SUMMARY:Power To The People: John & Yoko Live in NYC
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to join theaters around the world for a global theatrical event: “Power To The People: John & Yoko Live in NYC”\, showing April 29 and May 3 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres. \n“Power To The People: John & Yoko Live in NYC” is the 2026 multiscreen concert film of two massive live shows by John Lennon & Yoko Ono at Madison Square Garden\, New York City on August 30\, 1972\, newly restored\, re-edited and remixed by the Lennons’ seven-times Grammy Award winning team. \nJohn & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band with Elephant’s Memory and Special Guests performed these now-legendary sold-out One To One concerts to a combined audience of 40\,000 people\, raising over $1.5M (equivalent to $11.5M in 2026) for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They were the only full-length concerts John Lennon (with Yoko Ono) performed after leaving The Beatles. \nOriginally filmed by multi-camera director Steve Gebhardt in 1972\, this 2026 version of the concert film is directed by Simon Hilton\, edited by Ben Wainwright-Pearce and produced by Peter Worsley & Sean Ono Lennon. Music Production is by Sean Ono Lennon; mixed and engineered by Paul Hicks & Sam Gannon. \nHits performed include John’s ‘New York City’\, ‘Instant Karma!’\, ‘Imagine’ and ‘Mother’\, plus Yoko’s ‘Don’t Worry Kyoko’ and ‘Open Your Box’\, plus rousing renditions of ‘Come Together’ & ‘Hound Dog’ and encore ‘Give Peace a Chance’ with special guests Stevie Wonder\, Melanie and many others. \n“Power To The People: John & Yoko Live in NYC” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Wednesday\, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. and at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre on Sunday\, May 3 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $15 general admission\, or $13 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:The Travel Companion
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the one-night-only Northern Arizona premiere of “The Travel Companion” on Thursday\, April 30 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nMeet the filmmaker! Co-writer\, co-director and co-producer Alex Mallis will be in Sedona to host the film and do a live Q&A discussion after both screenings. \nSimon is an early 30s filmmaker living in New York City with his best friend and roommate\, Bruce\, who works for an airline. As Bruce’s dedicated “travel companion\,” he gets to fly for free on standby anytime he wants — an incredible asset for his unfinished\, sprawling documentary about humanity\, which he can’t quite describe but hopes to find in the edit. \nAfter a lackluster film screening\, Simon’s life takes a turn when he befriends Beatrice\, a fellow filmmaker\, and invites her to join him and Bruce at a bar. Bruce and Beatrice hit it off and before long\, Simon wakes to find Beatrice in his kitchen. As his roommate’s budding relationship gets more serious\, Simon begins to fear he will lose his coveted travel perks. \nWith only two months left until Bruce can change the recipient of his flight benefits\, Simon begins to compromise his friendship with Bruce in his pursuit of retaining the free flights. Meanwhile\, Simon’s jealousy of Beatrice’s successful filmmaking career intensifies\, and he gradually loses focus on his own creative project as this obsession takes over. Can Simon keep both the benefits and his friendship intact? \n“The Travel Companion” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre on Thursday\, April 30 at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. with filmmaker Alex Mallis present for a live Q&A discussion. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.
