SUMMARY:Midwinter Break
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Midwinter Break” showing May 22-28 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \n“Midwinter Break” is a stirring meditation on faith\, commitment\, and the enduring power of love\, as a longtime couple takes a life-changing trip to Amsterdam. \nRetired long-time couple Stella and Gerry (Academy Award nominees Lesley Manville and Ciarán Hinds) travel from their home in Glasgow to Amsterdam for an impromptu holiday. \nTraversing the beautiful European city\, they find themselves freed from the staid routines that have come to define their lives. But as the hours pass\, Stella and Gerry realize that after decades together\, their relationship has reached a crossroads. After so much time and so many memories\, long-held promises and deeply concealed wounds threaten to come to light and force them to confront their future. \nBased on the acclaimed novel by Bernard MacLaverty\, director Polly Findlay crafts a powerful debut that poses important questions about the nature of faith and commitment\, and the enduring power of love. \n“Midwinter Break” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre May 22-29. Showtimes will be Friday\, Saturday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, May 22\, 23\, 27 and 28 at 3:30 p.m.; and Sunday\, Monday and Tuesday\, May 24\, 25 and 26 at 6:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.

SUMMARY:Holding Liat
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Holding Liat” showing May 22-28 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \n“Holding Liat” has premiered to rave reviews at film festivals around the world and was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2026. \nOn the morning of October 7\, 2023\, Israeli-American Liat Atzili and her husband Aviv were at home when Hamas attacked their kibbutz. By nightfall\, Liat and Aviv are captives in Gaza along with 250 other people — 12 of whom\, like Liat\, are American citizens. \nCaught between international diplomacy and a rapidly escalating war\, their family must face their own uncertainty and conflicting political perspectives in the pursuit of Liat and Aviv’s release. This agonizing process\, and the ultimate fate of their loved ones\, challenges how the members of the family understand themselves and their place in the conflict. \nThrough the intimate lens of a family’s experience\, “Holding Liat” poses complex questions of identity across generations\, as the family is thrust into the epicenter of a global conflict rapidly unfolding in real-time. \n“One of the best movies of the year.” — Ann Hornaday\, Washington Post \n“Politically potent and emotionally gripping … a heartbreaking true story.” — Jordan Mintzer\, The Hollywood Reporter \n“Holding Liat” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre May 22-29. Showtimes will be Friday\, Saturday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, May 22\, 23\, 27 and 28 at 6:30 p.m.; and Monday and Tuesday\, May 25 and 26 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Emilia & the Aliveness
DESCRIPTION:Emilia & the Aliveness returns to the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on May 28th for an evening of poetry\, music\, film\, movement\, and storytelling from the heart. \nThis event is the culmination of almost seven years of devotional creativity — and the incredible transformation that occurs when we commit to something beyond ourselves. \nIn this time\, Emilia has written hundreds of poems\, danced\, learned the piano\, guitar\, flute\, composed music\, became a singer-songwriter\, recorded an EP\, created short films\, made her own clothes\, decorated spaces\, took countless photographs\, painted\, illustrated and macramé’d. \nShe has repeatedly challenged her fears and discovered all kinds of untapped resources and capabilities along the way. \nHer live events share a glimpse into the inspiration that fuels her life. \nFrom lived experience\, she believes everyone can access endless gifts through intention\, consistency and surrender. She has devoted herself to finding all of the ways we can finesse genius out of ourselves and is obsessed with the expanse of the human heart. At the core of it\, she is deeply curious about what it looks and feels like to be fully alive. \n \nEmilia’s signature authentic\, humorous and improvisational style allows her to weave her creative expression in a potent and gentle way\, bringing us right back to ourselves and our own inspiration. \nHer work reflects the depth of her personal journey and is rich with passion\, grace and insights. It is an offering of what she’s learned and is learning. \nShe never knows for sure what she’s going to “do” when she steps onto the stage\, because she loves unfolding the universe on the spot—showing up in her fullness and curiosity and seeing what happens from there. \nIt is never the same way twice. \nWhatever form it takes\, it is always timely\, powerful\, nourishing and inspiring. \nThat being said\, on this particular evening\, we may find ourselves becoming the ocean\, singing songs from the creek\, and meeting ourselves in a million different ways as we sing\, cry and laugh together. \nA powerful rebirth and tender blooming of the heart through creativity. \nTo learn more about Emilia and her work\, visit www.divineandhuman.com. \n“Emilia & the Aliveness” will perform at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Thursday\, May 28th at 7pm. Tickets for this event are $44. \nTickets can be ordered online at the BUY TICKETS link to the right or on the phone by calling 928-282-1177 to order by phone. Both the Sedona International Film Festival Office and the Mary D. Fisher Theatre are located at 2030 W. SR 89A in West Sedona.

SUMMARY:Outdoor Film: Big Night
DESCRIPTION:It’s “Big Screen at Basecamp” as the Sedona International Film Festival partners with Sedona Beer Company for its “Movies on the Move” cinema under the stars outdoor film experience at Basecamp in West Sedona — every Thursday in the summer season! \nJoin us on Thursday\, May 28 as we present “Big Night” at Basecamp/Sedona Beer Company at dusk. \n“Big Night” features an all-star ensemble cast including Ian Holm\, Isabella Rossellini\, Minnie Driver\, Stanley Tucci and Tony Shalhoub. \nChef Primo (Tony Shalhoub) and businessman Secondo (Stanley Tucci) are immigrant brothers from Italy who open their dream restaurant\, Paradise\, in New Jersey. Primo is the irascible and gifted chef\, brilliant in his culinary genius\, but determined not to squander his talent on making the routine dishes that customers expect. \nPrimo’s authentic food is too unfamiliar for the local tastes\, and the restaurant is struggling. When famous Italian-American bandleader Louis Prima is scheduled to appear at Paradise\, the two brothers put all of their efforts into the important meal\, which will likely decide the fate of their restaurant. \n \nBasecamp will offer a selection of craft beers\, food and beverages (and a special menu item themed to each film)\, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Sedona International Film Festival. \n“Big Night” will be shown outdoors at Basecamp Sedona Beer Company (70 Dry Creek Road) on Thursday\, May 28 at dusk. Seating will begin at 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs. Parking is free and available at Basecamp and the Sedona Public Library. \nTickets are only $10 each\, and kids 12 and under are free of charge. \nFor advance tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177.
