DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Midas Man” showing July 10-15 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nOn Thursday 9th November 1961\, a man named Brian descended the stairs to a cellar in Liverpool and changed the world forever. \n“Midas Man” tells the true story of the “Fifth Beatle” — The Beatles’ legendary manager Brian Epstein (in a star-making turn by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd\, co-starring Emily Watson\, Eddie Marsan\, Eddie Izzard and Jay Leno. \nThe film charts Brian’s life\, from his formative years to wild\, unprecedented global success and the ensuing chaos as he managed and promoted some of the biggest acts in the world. The film explores the close relationships with his family and friends and his lifelong search for love. It brings to life an extraordinary period of cultural change and adds depth to an untold story of one of the world’s most significant outsiders. Brian Epstein lived a thousand lives in a few short years. Managing The Beatles was the easy part.  \nBrian Epstein is recognized today as the man who signed The Beatles\, and in doing so\, created the blueprint for music artist management. \nThis funny\, thrilling and occasionally heartbreaking film charts Epstein’s life as he guides the scrappy four-piece band’s rise from dingy bars to the hallowed halls of The Ed Sullivan Show and beyond — a story of one man’s radical faith in talent and the sacrifices he made to champion it.  \n“Midas Man” will be shown at the Mary D. DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Monument” showing July 10-16 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nSet in the final year of Israel’s occupation of southern Lebanon\, “Monument” tells the true story of acclaimed Israeli architects Amnon Rechter (Joe Mazzello) and his father\, Yacov Rechter (Jon Voight)\, as their most dangerous commission forces them to confront the limits of loyalty\, dissent\, and art. \nTasked with designing a monument honoring fallen soldiers of the Christian South Lebanon Army\, Yakov and Amnon make repeated journeys down the notorious “Death Road” into the security zone\, a militarized buffer strip plagued by ambushes and roadside bombs. \nAmnon rejects the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s nationalist brief\, urging his father to build a memorial that rises above religious and political divisions: a place of rest and remembrance for both Christians and Muslims. As he works alongside Lebanese contractors struggling to survive under occupation\, witnesses the war up close\, and risks his own life\, his artistic quest turns into the ultimate test of character. \nAs father and son clash over loyalty\, complicity\, and art\, their creative journey mirrors that of a nation divided\, and the monument becomes a haunting symbol of a peace that never lasts. \n“Monument” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre July 10-16. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres. \nA ginkgo tree bears witness to the lives of three generations of people\, as they are quietly transformed by the mysterious power of nature. \nAt the heart of a German university grows a majestic ginkgo tree\, its lifespan measured in centuries. As the years pass\, the distinguished plant bears witness to the private lives of those who seek shade under its boundless branches\, forming a nexus that connects three generations of students and teachers across time and space.  \nIn 2020\, a visiting neuroscientist conducts a series of experiments into the possibilities of botanical consciousness. In 1972\, a young student is profoundly changed by studying the behavior of a simple geranium. And in 1908\, the university’s first female student’s photographic inquiries reveal sacred patterns of the universe hidden within the humblest of plants. Over time\, each is transformed by the quiet\, enduring\, and mysterious power of nature. \nFrom Ildikó Enyedi\, the director of Academy Award-nominated “On Body and Soul”\, comes “Silent Friend”\, an epic\, awe-inspiring exploration of the natural world.
