DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Time and Water” showing July 17-23 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nFacing the death of his country’s glaciers and the loss of his beloved grandparents\, Icelandic writer Andri Snær Magnason turns his archives into a time capsule to hold what is slipping away — family\, memory\, time and water. \nMagnason — renowned poet and author — is chasing something elusive. As the glacial ice of his homeland melts\, he constructs a time capsule to hold onto this moment and send it to the future\, before everything he loves slips away. Using his own collected archives\, his grandparents’ photographs\, and films\, as well as traditional songs and folktales\, Andri interlaces his family’s story with that of the land around him.  \nFrom Academy Award-nominated director Sara Dosa\, “Time and Water” is a universal reflection on the power of home and what it means to be alive amid profound epochal change. \n“Time and Water” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre July 17-23. Esther\, a tormented American in her forties\, receives a letter after the death of her mother: she must find a woman who lived in the 30s in Palestine and keeps a secret about her life. Esther begins her search in Israel\, helped by Zayde\, a university professor with a particular background. \n1930. A village of settlers\, the atmosphere of a new world. Moshe\, a widower with two children\, hires a woman to help him. The arrival of Yehudit changes the life of Moshe and two other men: Yaakov\, a romantic farmer\, and Globerman\, a cattle dealer. An exciting and tragic love story begins. \nBy tying together the threads that bind past and present\, Esther and Zayde will discover a shocking truth. \n“For the Love of a Woman” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre July 17-23. DESCRIPTION:It’s “Big Screen at Basecamp” as the Sedona International Film Festival partners with Sedona Beer Company for its “Movies on the Move” cinema under the stars outdoor film experience at Basecamp in West Sedona — every Thursday in the summer season! \nJoin us on Thursday\, July 23 as we present “An Officer and a Gentleman” at Basecamp/Sedona Beer Company at dusk. \n“An Officer and a Gentleman” (1982) was nominated for six Academy Awards\, winning two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor (Louis Gossett Jr.) and Best Original Song (Up Where We Belong). \nZack Mayo (Richard Gere)\, a new member of the U.S. Navy\, has a bad attitude. When he signs up for the Aviation Academy\, he is met with the strict leadership of Sgt. Emil Foley (Louis Gossett Jr.)\, who gives Zack a rude awakening in terms of relating with other people. Through Foley’s guidance — and an unexpected romance with Paula (Debra Winger)\, an outsider who hangs around the naval base — Zack learns some tough lessons and discovers what he truly wants out of life. \nBasecamp will offer a selection of craft beers\, food and beverages (and a special menu item themed to each film)\, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Sedona International Film Festival. \n \n“An Officer and a Gentleman” will be shown outdoors at Basecamp Sedona Beer Company (70 Dry Creek Road) on Thursday\, July 23 at dusk.
