DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Olmo” showing Aug. 14-20 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nFrom the producers of “Minari” and “Moonlight” comes the next great coming-of-age journey.  \nFourteen-year-old Olmo and his family are struggling to make ends meet in 1979 New Mexico. Due to an illness that keeps his father Nestor confined to his bed\, his mother Cecilia\, his sister Ana\, and even he himself must contribute to the daily caretaking responsibilities.  \nOlmo\, in the throes of selfish adolescence\, would much rather hang out with his best friend Miguel and try to impress his beautiful next-door neighbor Nina than take care of his dad. SUMMARY:Battle of Oslo
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Battle of Oslo” showing Aug. 15-20 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres. \n“Battle of Oslo” tells the true story of Colonel Eriksen\, who\, on April 9\, 1940\, sank a German warship approaching Oslo. His decision delayed the Nazi invasion and saved the king and government — yet he was later treated unfairly by a military commission. \nWhile the outcome of the battle is well-known in Norway\, the film delves into the lesser-known post-war trials of Eriksen. Confronted by a military commission\, he must defend his actions against criticism for his early surrender of the fortress. Eriksen must fight a battle for fame and honor.  \nThe film combines two story lines and thus becomes both an exciting war film and a thriller intertwined. \n“Battle of Oslo” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres Aug. 15-20. Others believe that life is a random occurrence without meaning. This series explores the meaning of life\, and our purpose here on earth. \n“I Am” is the third film in the series on Thursday\, Aug. 20 at 4:00 p.m. \n“I Am” is a thought-provoking documentary by Tom Shadyac\, director of “Ace Ventura”\, and the “Nutty Professor”. Following a life-changing accident\, Shadyac set out on a journey to explore the biggest questions of life. The film features interviews and archival footage with Desmond Tutu\, the Dalai Lama\, Barack Obama\, John F. Kennedy\, Mohandas Gandhi\, Martin Luther King Jr.\, Mother Teresa\, Nelson Mandela and many other celebrated leaders\, teachers and thinkers. DESCRIPTION:It’s “Big Screen at Basecamp” as the Sedona International Film Festival partners with Sedona Beer Company for its “Movies on the Move” cinema under the stars outdoor film experience at Basecamp in West Sedona — every Thursday in the summer season! \nJoin us on Thursday\, Aug. 20 as we present “Overboard” at Basecamp/Sedona Beer Company at dusk. \nOscar-winner Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell team up for this warm and funny\, hilarious and touching comedy. While her yacht is stuck for repairs in a small Oregon town\, spoiled socialite Joanna Stayton (Hawn) hires local carpenter Dean Proffitt (Russell) to remodel her closet … but then refuses to pay him. So\, when she accidentally falls overboard and loses her memory\, Dean takes his one chance for revenge. Claiming she’s “Annie” — his old ball and chain — the hunky widower makes her work off her debt by taking care of his house and four unruly children in this laugh-out-loud rags-to-riches romance! \nBasecamp will offer a selection of craft beers\, food and beverages (and a special menu item themed to each film)\, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Sedona International Film Festival. \n \n“Overboard” will be shown outdoors at Basecamp Sedona Beer Company (70 Dry Creek Road) on Thursday\, Aug. 20 at dusk.
