DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Green Realm” showing Sept. 16 and 17 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nMeet the filmmaker! Director\, writer and film subject (and Sedona resident) Timothy Smith — along with special guests featured in “The Green Realm” — will be here in person to host the film and Q&A discussion after each screening. \n“The Green Realm” is a magical yet real story about Timothy Smith’s spiritual awakening and his connection to the Green Realm (The Fairies). Timothy’s awakening led him up to the stars (Venus) where he was greeted by three Magnificent green beings (the one in the middle had a Kings Crown on) and the King telepathically told him to raise his frequency and vibration. \nTimothy went through six weeks of spiritual boot camp with his spiritual guides. They showed him three previous past lives … and that he had to heal in order to bring in his gifts from the Universe. Timothy was later told to contact his soul mate (Angel Messenger\, Language of Light singer) Shekina Rose who just happened to live in mystical Sedona. Timothy and Shekina found love. DESCRIPTION:Northern Arizona University and the Sedona International Film Festival are partnering to present The Classics\, a monthly classic film series. \nNAU/SIFF Classics will be curated and hosted by School of Communication Professor Emeritus Paul Helford. \nThe series will continue on Thursday\, Sept. 17 with “An American in Paris”. \nGene Kelly dancing to the music of the Gershwins. Vincente Minnelli’s dazzling direction. The screen debut of Leslie Caron. Paris transformed into a dream of music\, color\, dance\, and romance. “An American in Paris” (1951)\, winner of six Academy Awards\, including Best Picture\, remains one of Hollywood’s most spectacular musicals. \nInspired by George Gershwin’s 1928 orchestral work\, “An American in Paris” is set in postwar Paris\, where ex-GI and struggling painter Jerry Mulligan (Gene Kelly) lives modestly on the Left Bank with his sardonic pianist friend (Oscar Levant). When an American heiress takes an interest in Jerry\, his life becomes complicated when he falls in love with Lise (Leslie Caron)\, a young French woman secretly involved with another man. Their emotional turmoil culminates in the film’s legendary dream ballet\, choreographed by Kelly and set amid Oscar-winning Parisian designs inspired by the paintings of Renoir\, Toulouse-Lautrec\, Van Gogh\, and others. \nPaul Helford will introduce the film\, provide historical and artistic context\, and lead a discussion following the movie. \nA lifelong film lover Helford has taught and written about films for over 50 years. As a television station manager and award-winning producer\, he produced and hosted a weekly classic TV film show. He’s taught high school and college film classes. At NAU he started the film program major in 2006 and has co-directed and co-hosted the NAU College of Arts and Letters film series since 2004. \n“An American in Paris” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre on Thursday\, Sept. 17 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. DESCRIPTION:It’s “Big Screen at Basecamp” as the Sedona International Film Festival partners with Sedona Beer Company for its “Movies on the Move” cinema under the stars outdoor film experience at Basecamp in West Sedona — every Thursday in the summer season! \nJoin us on Thursday\, Sept. 17 as we present “Chef” at Basecamp/Sedona Beer Company at dusk. \n“Chef” (2014) is a critically acclaimed comedy-drama and audience sensation. After a controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman) pushes him too far\, chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) quits his position at a prestigious Los Angeles restaurant. As he tries to figure out what his next step should be\, he finds himself in Miami. Carl joins forces with his ex-wife (Sofía Vergara)\, best friend (John Leguizamo) and son (Emjay Anthony) to launch a food-truck business\, and the venture provides a chance to reignite his passion for cooking — as well as his zest for life and love. \nBasecamp will offer a selection of craft beers\, food and beverages (and a special menu item themed to each film)\, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Sedona International Film Festival. \n \n“Chef” will be shown outdoors at Basecamp Sedona Beer Company (70 Dry Creek Road) on Thursday\, Sept. 17 at dusk. Seating will begin at 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs.
