SUMMARY:The Trial of Alec Baldwin
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Trial of Alec Baldwin” — directed by Rory Kennedy — showing Oct. 23-29 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres. \nIn the wake of a fatal on-set shooting\, actor Alec Baldwin faces trial for involuntary manslaughter. But as headlines feed on his fame and reputation\, a question looms: is Baldwin being judged by the law — or by the court of public opinion? \nOn October 21\, 2021\, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins is killed on a movie set by a prop gun held by the actor Alec Baldwin. In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy\, virtually no one doubts that it was an accident and a deeply traumatizing experience for everyone involved. \nAfter the shock subsides\, questions of responsibility\, guilt\, blame\, punishment and justice begin circulating in the media. Talented and adored\, yet also flawed\, politically outspoken\, and prone to explosions of anger\, the NYC-based Hollywood star becomes a lightning rod for online haters and a target for pushy paparazzi. \nWith prosecutors weighing criminal charges\, the events that unfold are driven less by the facts surrounding the case and more by who Alec Baldwin is — both as a man and as a public figure. \n“The Trial of Alec Baldwin” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres Oct. 23-29. Showtimes will be Friday\, Oct. 23 at 4:00 p.m.; Saturday and Thursday\, Oct. 24 and 29 at 7:00 p.m.; Sunday\, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m.; Monday\, Oct. 26 at 3:00 p.m.; and Wednesday\, Oct. 28 at 2:00 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.

SUMMARY:Take Me Home
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Take Me Home” showing Oct. 23-29 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nAnna (Anna Sargent)\, a middle-aged Korean adoptee with a cognitive disability\, cares for her aging parents in a fragile balance of meeting one another’s needs. Alongside her sister Emily (Ali Ahn) and her father (Victor Slezak)\, they must confront challenging questions about the future. She remains determined to build a life where all of them can thrive. \nLiz Sargent’s intimate debut drama examines the shifting demands placed on a unique — and uniquely challenged — family in a Florida suburb. Expanded from Sargent’s acclaimed short film (2023 Sundance Film Festival)\, “Take Me Home” exposes the indignities of the American health care system and the structural challenges faced by disabled people. The film also gently and imaginatively traces a path for Anna’s independence and connection to a community of chosen family. \nBy turns quietly devastating and bracingly optimistic\, “Take Me Home” confronts us with an impossible situation\, while holding out hope for Anna’s future. \n“A story of caregiving challenges balances dark truths with charm and humor.” — The Hollywood Reporter \n“Funny and deeply sensitive.” — IndieWire \n“Take Me Home” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Oct. 23-29. Showtimes will be Friday\, Saturday and Monday\, Oct. 23\, 24 and 26 at 3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, Oct. 27\, 28 and 29 at 6:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.

SUMMARY:The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony” showing Oct. 23-29 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \n“The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony” is an intimate coming-of-age documentary by three-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Habiba Nosheen that follows three teenage girls in Pakistan\, offering a rare and tender portrait of girlhood\, joy\, and play told through the eyes of young Pakistani girls navigating the margins of society — one somersault at a time. \nAt its core\, “The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony” is a story of hope and quiet defiance. Through the intimate journeys of three teenagers we witness as their passion for gymnastics begins to clash with deeply rooted expectations around what girls can and cannot do. The film follows their journey as they find themselves straddling two polar opposite worlds as they push to make space for themselves through gymnastics. \nThe result is a lyrical and deeply human portrait of three young girls from a corner of the world we rarely see on screen — a place where girls and sport rarely mix. These are girls who dare to dream. \n“The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Oct. 23-29. Showtimes will be Friday\, Saturday and Monday\, Oct. 23\, 24 and 26 at 6:30 p.m.; and Tuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, Oct. 27\, 28 and 29 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members.
