SUMMARY:The Cycle of Love
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Cycle of Love” showing Nov. 13-18 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres. \n“The Cycle of Love” premiered to rave reviews at the recent Illuminate Sedona gala screening event in September. SUMMARY:Barbara Forever
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Barbara Forever” showing Nov. 14-18 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \n“Barbara Forever” is an expansive\, immersive exploration of the life\, work\, and ongoing cultural impact of filmmaker Barbara Hammer — a pioneering artist who lived boldly\, created urgently\, and transformed cinema through her singular vision. Her films were an extension of herself: sensual\, experimental\, and unapologetically lesbian\, rooted in a profound desire for connection and an insistence on telling her own story. \nDriven by her canon of over eighty films\, a vast collection of unreleased archival materials\, and extensive audio interviews\, Brydie O’Connor’s portrait allows for Hammer’s voice and images to shine through\, becoming both a tribute and an extension of her legacy. \n“If we’re experimenting with our lives and the way we’re going to live\, our film and our art should also be experimental. It breaks tradition and makes you think in a broader way. It’s the way I experience the world.” – Barbara Hammer \n“Barbara Forever” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Nov. 14-18. Showtimes will be Saturday\, Sunday and Monday\, Nov. 14\, 15 and 16 at 6:30 p.m.; and Tuesday and Wednesday\, Nov. 17 and 18 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Celebrating World Falconry Day
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with the International Raptor and Falconry Center to present “Celebrating World Falconry Day” at 4:00 p.m. on Monday\, Nov. 16 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nCelebrate World Falconry Day with the International Raptor & Falconry Center featuring a fascinating exploration of one of humanity’s oldest and least understood traditions. \nJoin Dr. Michele Losee\, founder of the International Raptor & Falconry Center\, master falconer\, raptor ecologist\, and educator\, as she takes audiences inside the remarkable world of falconry — a living cultural tradition that has connected people and birds of prey for more than 4\,000 years. \nRecognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity\, falconry is far more than hunting with birds of prey. It represents generations of Traditional Ecological Knowledge\, a deep understanding of wildlife\, ecosystems\, and the unique partnership between humans and raptors. Today\, that knowledge continues to contribute to raptor conservation\, education\, and the preservation of cultural heritage around the world. \nThe presentation will feature at least two live birds of prey species commonly used in falconry\, offering a rare opportunity to experience these magnificent ambassadors up close while learning how they have shaped cultures across continents and continue to inspire conservation today. \nWhether you are a bird enthusiast\, conservationist\, history buff\, or simply curious about the natural world\, this engaging program offers an uncommon glimpse into a tradition few people ever have the chance to experience. \nCome celebrate World Falconry Day and discover how an ancient cultural practice remains remarkably relevant in the modern world. \n“Celebrating World Falconry Day” will take place at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Monday\, Nov. 16 at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $15\, to benefit the International Raptor and Falconry Center. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. SUMMARY:Cottonwood Premiere: Eddie Cochran: Don’t Forget Me
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present “Monday Movies on Main” on Monday\, Nov. 16 with the Cottonwood premiere of “Eddie Cochran: Don’t Forget Me” at 7 p.m. at Old Town Center for the Arts. \nEddie Cochran died aged just 21\, yet his influence can still be heard in generations of artists from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to today’s contemporary artists. \nFrom BAFTA and Academy Award-winning producers and filmmakers Goldfinch comes the first official biography on rock & roll icon Eddie Cochran. “Eddie Cochran: Don’t Forget Me” is made in partnership with the Cochran Family Estate\, chronicling the extraordinary but tragically short life of the rock & roll pioneer\, with dramatic recreations featuring Jack Harris as Eddie Cochran and Frances Barber as his mother\, Alice Cochran. \nCochran’s influence is immeasurable.
