SUMMARY:Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to join theaters around the world for a global theatrical event: “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” from The Royal Ballet showing March 31 and April 4 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nAt a garden party on a sunny afternoon\, Alice is surprised to see her parents’ friend Lewis Carroll transform into a white rabbit. When she follows him down a rabbit hole\, events become curiouser and curiouser. As Alice journeys through Wonderland\, she encounters countless strange creatures. She’s swept off her feet by the charming Knave of Hearts\, who’s on the run for stealing the tarts. Confusion piles upon confusion. Then Alice wakes with a start. Was it all a daydream? \nChristopher Wheeldon’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” burst onto the stage in 2011 in an explosion of color\, stage magic and inventive\, sophisticated choreography. Joby Talbot’s score combines contemporary soundworlds with sweeping melodies that gesture to ballet scores of the 19th century. Bob Crowley’s wildly imaginative\, eye-popping designs draw on everything from puppetry to projections to make Wonderland wonderfully real. The result shows The Royal Ballet at its best\, bringing together world-class dance with enchanting family entertainment and ingenious music and design. \nThe Royal Opera House cinema broadcasts offer audiences the best seat in the house\, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. Audiences are never far from a performance at the Royal Opera House. \n“Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” is generously sponsored by Rose Borne and Bonny Singer. \n“Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” from The Royal Ballet will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre on Wednesday\, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday\, April 4 at 2:30 p.m. \nTickets are $15 general admission\, or $13 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.
