SUMMARY:Midas Man
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Midas Man” showing July 10-15 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nOn Thursday 9th November 1961\, a man named Brian descended the stairs to a cellar in Liverpool and changed the world forever. \n“Midas Man” tells the true story of the “Fifth Beatle” — The Beatles’ legendary manager Brian Epstein (in a star-making turn by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd\, co-starring Emily Watson\, Eddie Marsan\, Eddie Izzard and Jay Leno. \nThe film charts Brian’s life\, from his formative years to wild\, unprecedented global success and the ensuing chaos as he managed and promoted some of the biggest acts in the world. The film explores the close relationships with his family and friends and his lifelong search for love. It brings to life an extraordinary period of cultural change and adds depth to an untold story of one of the world’s most significant outsiders. Brian Epstein lived a thousand lives in a few short years. Managing The Beatles was the easy part. \nBrian Epstein is recognized today as the man who signed The Beatles\, and in doing so\, created the blueprint for music artist management. \nThis funny\, thrilling and occasionally heartbreaking film charts Epstein’s life as he guides the scrappy four-piece band’s rise from dingy bars to the hallowed halls of The Ed Sullivan Show and beyond — a story of one man’s radical faith in talent and the sacrifices he made to champion it. \n“Midas Man” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre July 10-15. Showtimes will be Friday and Sunday\, July 10 and 12 at 4:00 p.m.; Saturday\, Tuesday and Wednesday\, July 11\, 14 and at 7:00 p.m.; and Monday\, July 13 at 3:00 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.

SUMMARY:Monument
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Monument” showing July 10-16 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nSet in the final year of Israel’s occupation of southern Lebanon\, “Monument” tells the true story of acclaimed Israeli architects Amnon Rechter (Joe Mazzello) and his father\, Yacov Rechter (Jon Voight)\, as their most dangerous commission forces them to confront the limits of loyalty\, dissent\, and art. \nTasked with designing a monument honoring fallen soldiers of the Christian South Lebanon Army\, Yakov and Amnon make repeated journeys down the notorious “Death Road” into the security zone\, a militarized buffer strip plagued by ambushes and roadside bombs. \nAmnon rejects the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s nationalist brief\, urging his father to build a memorial that rises above religious and political divisions: a place of rest and remembrance for both Christians and Muslims. As he works alongside Lebanese contractors struggling to survive under occupation\, witnesses the war up close\, and risks his own life\, his artistic quest turns into the ultimate test of character. \nAs father and son clash over loyalty\, complicity\, and art\, their creative journey mirrors that of a nation divided\, and the monument becomes a haunting symbol of a peace that never lasts. \n“Monument” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre July 10-16. Showtimes will be Friday\, Saturday and Sunday\, July 10\, 11 and 12 at 3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, July 14\, 15 and 16 at 6:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Silent Friend
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Silent Friend” showing July 10-16 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres. \nA ginkgo tree bears witness to the lives of three generations of people\, as they are quietly transformed by the mysterious power of nature. \nAt the heart of a German university grows a majestic ginkgo tree\, its lifespan measured in centuries. As the years pass\, the distinguished plant bears witness to the private lives of those who seek shade under its boundless branches\, forming a nexus that connects three generations of students and teachers across time and space. \nIn 2020\, a visiting neuroscientist conducts a series of experiments into the possibilities of botanical consciousness. In 1972\, a young student is profoundly changed by studying the behavior of a simple geranium. And in 1908\, the university’s first female student’s photographic inquiries reveal sacred patterns of the universe hidden within the humblest of plants. Over time\, each is transformed by the quiet\, enduring\, and mysterious power of nature. \nFrom Ildikó Enyedi\, the director of Academy Award-nominated “On Body and Soul”\, comes “Silent Friend”\, an epic\, awe-inspiring exploration of the natural world. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Tony Leung\, Léa Seydoux and Venice Prize-winning newcomer Luna Wedler\, Enyedi crafts a thoughtful meditation on the essential question of what it means to be human. \n“Silent Friend” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres July 10-16. Showtimes will be Friday\, July 10 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday\, Tuesday and Wednesday\, July 11\, 14 and 15 at 4:00 p.m.; Sunday and Monday\, July 12 and 13 at 6:30 p.m.; and Thursday\, July 16 at 12:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Peter Asher: Everywhere Man
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Peter Asher: Everywhere Man” showing July 24-30 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \n“Peter Asher: Everywhere Man” is a feature-length documentary inspired by musician\, producer\, and manager Peter Asher’s celebrated cabaret show A Musical Memoir of the ’60s and Beyond. Like his stage performance\, the film traces an extraordinary life lived at the center of modern music history. \nFrom his early years as a child actor in 1950s London to the Swinging Sixties\, Asher emerges as a Zelig-like figure in the culture of the era: one half of the pop duo “Peter and Gordon\,” recipients of four chart-topping hits penned by Paul McCartney; the first head of A&R at Apple Records; and co-owner of the Indica Gallery\, the epicenter of London’s countercultural art scene. \nAsher helped define a generation of singer-songwriters as producer and manager for James Taylor\, Linda Ronstadt\, and others\, cementing his reputation as one of music’s most influential behind-the-scenes forces of the 1970s and ‘80s. In the present day\, he remains a vital creative force\, still performing\, producing\, and most recently collaborating with Barbra Streisand on her acclaimed The Secret of Life duets album. \nFeaturing intimate interviews with James Taylor\, Linda Ronstadt\, Carole King\, Kate Taylor\, Lyle Lovett\, Natalie Merchant\, Marianne Faithfull\, Paul Jones\, Danny Kortchmar\, Waddy Wachtell\, Lee Sklar\, John Boylan\, Paul Shaffer\, and Paul McCartney (in voiceover) as well as cultural icons Steve Martin\, Eric Idle\, Twiggy\, and Pattie Boyd. Everywhere Man paints a vibrant portrait of a man whose life intersects with some of the greatest artists and moments of the last six decades. The soundtrack — woven from the timeless hits of those featured — creates a score as unforgettable as the story itself. \n“Peter Asher: Everywhere Man” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre July 24-30. Showtimes will be Friday\, Saturday\, Sunday and Monday\, July 24\, 25\, 26 and 27 at 6:30 p.m.; and Tuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, July 28\, 29 and 30 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Brunello: The Gracious Visionary
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Brunello: The Gracious Visionary” showing July 24-30 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nBrunello Cucinelli’s work has been described as embodying “modern refinement” and “the king of quiet luxury.” Cucinelli’s ability to blend artistry with social responsibility makes him not just a fashion icon\, but a cultural figure whose influence extends beyond the runway. \nOnly a “poet” could tell his story. Giuseppe Tornatore’s “Brunello: The Gracious Visionary” is more than a biographical film — it’s a celebration of a designer who built a global luxury empire from the rolling hills of Umbria\, rooted in humanistic capitalism\, ethical production\, and a deep respect for craftsmanship. It’s a story of quiet revolution — of understated elegance\, sustainable sourcing\, and a community-first approach that invests in local artisans and fair wages. \nWith Oscar-winning composer Nicola Piovani at the helm\, the film’s “poetic” narrative captures the utopian vision behind Cucinelli’s brand: a place where luxury whispers rather than shouts\, and where every decision reflects a commitment to people\, planet\, and purpose. \nFor audiences and luxury enthusiasts alike\, “Brunello: The Gracious Visionary” is a movement in storytelling\, showing how authenticity\, ethics\, and artistry can inspire a new generation of consumers to value what truly matters. \n“Brunello: The Gracious Visionary” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre July 24-30. Showtimes will be Friday\, Saturday\, Sunday and Monday\, July 24\, 25\, 26 and 27 at 3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, July 28\, 29 and 30 at 6:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Beyond the Powder: The Legacy of the First Women's Cross-Country Air Race
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with the Sedona Red Rockettes — the local chapter of the Ninety-Nines — to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Beyond the Powder: The Legacy of the First Women’s Cross-Country Air Race” on Friday\, July 24 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nThis special screening — held on the birthday of Amelia Earhart — will include a post-film discussion led by the Sedona Red Rockettes. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the organization. \n“Beyond the Powder: The Legacy of the First Women’s Cross-Country Air Race” is a documentary film that follows the 2014 Air Race Classic racers as they make their way across the country\, while telling the story of the original race of 1929\, also known as the Powder Puff Derby. \n \nThe first Women’s Air Derby in 1929 was flown from Santa Monica to the finish line in Cleveland\, kicking off the National Air Races. The eyes of the country watched as these brave women made history flying cross-country\, breaking into a competition that was thought to be for men only. They encountered sabotage\, death\, and all the difficulties of flying at the dawn of aviation. \nToday the Powder Puff Derby continues as the Air Race Classic. The modern-day racers carry out the legacy of the original racers with their adventurous and rebellious spirit. Showing that they were more than just their make-up\, the original Derby contestants have inspired those flying today to truly push beyond the powder. \n“‘Beyond the Powder’ is just plain inspiring\, making us all feel like we were right up there with them as they continue to blaze a trail across the sky!” — Nancy Parrish\, Executive Director\, Wings Across America \nThe Ninety-Nines and Sedona Red Rockettes\nThe Ninety-Nines was founded on November 2\, 1929\, at Curtiss Field\, Valley Stream\, Long Island\, New York. All licensed 117 female pilots at the time were invited to assemble for mutual support\, the advancement of aviation\, and to create a central office to keep files on women aviators. In 1931\, Amelia Earhart was elected the first President\, and the group selected the name “Ninety-Nines” to represent the 99 charter members. Today there are over 6\,700 members from all over the world. The local chapter\, the Sedona Red Rockettes\, was established in 1989 and is still going strong today. Their mission is to support women in aviation\, provide flight scholarships and share their passion for flight. \n“Beyond the Powder: The Legacy of the First Women’s Cross-Country Air Race” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Friday\, July 24 at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Gun Fury
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with the Sedona Historical Society to celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy with a special screening of the 1953 Western film “Gun Fury” on Saturday\, July 25 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nStarring Rock Hudson and Donna Reed\, “Gun Fury” follows Ben Warren (Hudson) who tracks down outlaw gang leader Frank Slayton (Philip Carey) after Slayton shot him and kidnapped his fiancée\, Jennifer Ballard (Reed). \n \nMost of the film was shot in Sedona\, and the Red Rocks play their own spectacular role. This is because the movie was made in 3-D\, with action and scenery popping out at viewers. \nThe film received mixed reviews\, with the Hollywood Citizen-News calling it “a topnotch western on all counts.” Newsweek\, however\, wrote less enthusiastically that it “contains a power of fine Arizona scenery….and a western plot with virtually no deviation from the norm.” \nLocal film historians John Conway and Clancy Sage will share stories from the filming of “Gun Fury” prior to the screening. \nProceeds from this special screening benefit the Sedona Heritage Museum. \nTickets are $20 each. Click on the BUY TICKETS link to the right to order tickets online. Call the film festival office at 928-282-1177 to order by phone. The office and theatre are located at 2030 W. SUMMARY:In the Living Room Music Series: Tommy Acosta and Chicky Brooklyn
DESCRIPTION:If you are looking for a perfect way to spend a summer Monday\, join Shondra Jepperson and the Sedona International Film Festival at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on July 27 at 7 pm for an evening of acoustic music and legendary local tales. \nThe “In the Living Room” Music Series is known for its signature interactive format\, where the audience is invited to ask questions and connect with the performers during the show\, making it a uniquely fun experience for every music lover. \nThis month\, Shondra welcomes the songwriting duo of Tommy Acosta and his musical partner\, Chicky Brooklyn. Fans know them as the engine behind the popular band Green Light\, but for this special night\, they are stripping things back to their acoustic roots. Having known each other for years\, their bond is more like brotherhood\, and their history of musical mischief in the rock scene promises a night filled with great songs and fascinating stories. \n \n“I’m really looking forward to this one\,” says producer Shondra Jepperson. “Tommy and Chicky have this incredible chemistry that you only get from decades of friendship. SUMMARY:Old Man Lightning
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the one-night-only Sedona premiere of “Old Man Lightning” on Friday\, July 31 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nMeet the filmmaker! Director Dawn Kish will be in Sedona to host the film and do a live Q&A discussion after both screenings. \n“Old Man Lightning” may be the best climbing\, comedy\, comeback film ever made\, with a conservation twist. The film won the Best Climbing Film Award at the Banff International Film Festival and Bilbao Mendi Spain. \nCranky\, yet witty bouldering legend John “Verm” Sherman has lost his mojo and is jonesing to regain it. What better way than to climb the world’s most famous boulder problem\, Yosemite’s iconic Midnight Lightning? He climbed it 25 years ago\, but since then the climb has gotten harder and Verm’s gotten softer due to beerlust and a third-degree burning passion for bird photography. \n \nStanding in his way is his age (57)\, weight (200 lbs)\, dozens of injuries\, and myriad health issues. Nevertheless\, he’s stubborn and determined. Verm needs to save condors from extinction\, and if leveraging his climbing celebrity will help\, he’ll stop at nothing. Verm enlists the assistance of Ryan “Meatball” Whited\, a cheerfully sadistic personal trainer and musculoskeletal guru. A 6-month mission to whip Verm back into shape ensues\, leading to a final confrontation with bouldering’s “Problem of Problems”. \nWhat could possibly go wrong in this comedic climbing comeback film? \n“I loved it. In my wildest dreams\, I could never have imagined a climbing film inspired by ‘Monty Python’ and ‘Rocky’. This movie made me laugh out loud\, but it also managed to be a poignant comeback story with the power to resonate with climbers and non-climbers alike.” — Maya Silver\, Editor-in-Chief\, Climbing Magazine \n \nBoth screenings will feature a Q&A with the film’s director\, Dawn Kish. She is photographer and filmmaker\, who connects art\, adventure and advocacy. Kish received her first camera at the tender age of 17 and grew up in Flagstaff. Her passion for storytelling has led her to transform her captivating photographs into immersive films that have screened at The Banff Film Festival and Mountainfilm Telluride. Kish’s works have been commissioned by esteemed clients such as Audubon\, National Geographic and Patagonia. \n“Old Man Lightning” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Friday\, July 31 at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177.
