SUMMARY:Natchez
DESCRIPTION:“Natchez” premiered at the recent Sedona Film Festival and is returning for a theatrical run for its national release. \n“Natchez” captures an unsettling clash between history and memory in a small Mississippi town; a layered mosaic of people contending with the weight of the past in a place where it is always present. \nEqual parts amusing and disturbing\, we journey through an antebellum tourist destination at a crossroads as it grapples with a deeply troubled history that is so thoroughly ingrained in its present\, we’re left to wonder if it’s actually past at all. \n“Director Suzannah Herbert delivers a documentary where tradition and truth mix\, mingle\, and clash.” — Hammer to Nail \n“The genteel politeness on display at the start of the film falls away\, revealing an unsettling core.” — Hollywood Reporter \n“A tough and complex depiction of intractable racism.” — Film Comment \n“One of the best documentaries of the 21st century – and the 19th century as well. [A] stylish and sophisticated look at the Old South … Deliriously enjoyable and enlightening.” — The Moveable Fest \n“Natchez” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre March 6-11. Showtimes will be Friday and Saturday\, March 6 and 7 at 6:30 p.m.; and Monday\, Tuesday and Wednesday\, March 9\, 10 and 11 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Past Cultures of the Verde Valley
DESCRIPTION:The featured speaker will be Neil Weintraub\, a retired Kaibab National Forest Archaeologist. Having conducted archaeological surveys and documentation of cultural sites across the Verde Valley in the late 1980s for Coconino National Forest Archaeologist Peter Pilles\, Neil was called to help with his skills when the find of a century presented itself. \nAlso joining in on the presentation will be Peter Pilles. He received his BA degree from Arizona State University in 1967. He worked at the Museum of Northern Arizona from 1967 until 1975\, when he became the Forest Archaeologist for the Coconino National Forest until retiring last year. Most of his archaeological survey and excavation work has been on the Navajo Reservation and in the Salt River valley\, the Flagstaff area\, and the Verde Valley. \nThe 1991 Tim’s Cave discovery was the result of a tourist flight on the outskirts of Sedona. Its discovery and subsequent findings led archaeologists to have a much better understanding of the cultural history of the Native ancestors of this region. \nDuring his presentation\, Neil will take you on a journey of the past\, while highlighting the nearby ancient sites of Palatki\, Honanki\, and the Crane Petroglyphs that are open to public visitation. \nYou will learn about the importance of these special places located in the most beautiful of places where we live — the Verde Valley. Be prepared to be inspired! \n“Past Cultures of the Verde Valley: Highlighting 1991 Tim’s Cave Discovery” will be presented at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Sunday\, March 8 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 to benefit the VVCAAS. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona. \nPhoto credit: Andy Seagle

SUMMARY:In the Living Room Music Series: Christy Fisher
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, March 9 at 7:00 p.m.\, series creator Shondra Jepperson hosts an evening with the legendary Christy Fisher — a woman whose life has been a tapestry of rock-and-roll history\, high fashion\, and raw musical talent. \nThis interactive session moves beyond a standard performance to explore Christy’s “unplugged and unscripted” story. From her early days as the “Seamstress for the Band” for icons like Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix to her time as a 1970s recording artist who famously chose her artistic integrity over a “Merv Griffin makeover\,” Christy’s journey is as colorful as her renowned clothing designs. \n“Christy Fisher is the ultimate creative spirit\,” says award-winning songwriter-moderator Shondra Jepperson. “She has lived a dozen lives in the music and fashion worlds\, and her songwriting reflects that incredible depth. This evening is a rare opportunity to hear the stories behind the woman who was a ‘hippie kid’ at the 1968 Miami Pop Festival and went on to conquer both the stage and the boutique galleries of North America.” \nExecutive Director Patrick Schweiss added: “This series has become such a big hit because of the terrific artists Shondra is bringing to our stage. Our audiences are truly engaged and having so much fun with the relaxed style of these evenings and the unique opportunity to ask questions during the concert.” \nThe “In the Living Room Music Series” is made possible through the generous support of presenting sponsor Cleaner Quicker Car Wash\, alongside concert sponsors Sefton Engineering\, LaserGirl Skincare\, and new national sponsor MoonBrew. This collaborative support ensures that 100% of the ticket sales go directly to the performing artists and the Sedona International Film Festival. \nIn the Living Room Music Series featuring Christy Fisher will take the stage at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Monday\, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. \nTickets are $20 and are available in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office or by calling 928-282-1177 or online at the BUY TICKETS link above. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.

SUMMARY:Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour 2026
DESCRIPTION:This year’s screenings feature the world’s best mountain sport\, culture and environmental films\, letting you experience the thrill and challenges of the mountain environments that inspire us all. \nThe Sedona tour stop is two nights again this year: Tuesday\, March 10 and Wednesday\, March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. Each night will feature a different program of films. Audience members can attend either one of the nights or get a package discount to attend both evenings. \nBanff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world! Hot on the heels of the festival that is held every fall in beautiful Banff\, Alberta\, the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour hits the road. With stops planned in more than 600 communities and more than 40 countries across the globe\, the Banff World Tour celebrates amazing achievements in outdoor storytelling and filmmaking worldwide! \nFrom the over 400 entries submitted into the festival each year\, award-winners and audience favorites are among the films that are carefully selected to play in theatres around the world. \nTraveling to remote vistas\, analyzing topical environmental issues\, and bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports the 2026 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world. \nFilms showing Tuesday\, March 10:\n• Flow Vision: There is something that has always excited Ambroise in Downhill Skateboarding: it’s those moments you experience two or three times in a season or even in your life. He has only experienced this a few times in his life while skating\, so he decided to skate the most challenging road in Europe to immerse himself in this mental state — the flow state.\n• Bridgers: Two Bozeman-based ski patrollers reflect on the rapid changes facing their home and the sport they love. With 50 seasons under his belt\, Dene Brandt regards the future with an optimism that infects his younger co-worker.\n• Robson: Two world-class ski mountaineers — Christina Lustenberger and Guillaume Pierrel — attempt a daring first descent of Mount Robson’s South Face\, retracing the footsteps of alpine pioneers and the weight of a legacy that has challenged generations.\n• Carving Lines: A visual diary of a printmaker depicting a popular ski touring zone through her art medium of print making.\n• The Book of George: From Brooklyn’s concrete jungle to the heart of the Everglades\, meet George McKenzie Jr.\, a Black photographer transforming his lens into a beacon of change. Swapping the weight of a gun for the promise of a camera\, George found his calling amid nature’s raw grandeur\, capturing everything from city pigeons and rats to elusive panthers.\n• Emil and Karl: Little Wheels\, Big Mountains: Jakob and Konne\, two adventurous fathers bring their two year old sons\, on a six-day mountain bike tour through the Swiss Alps. From rumbling stomachs and croissant crises to unavoidable tantrums – what begins as an ideal plan quickly turns into a test of patience for all four.\n• Reel Rock: Riders on the Storm: Big wall climber Siebe Vanhee enlists Drew Smith and fellow Belgian countrymen Nico Favresse and Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll to attempt the first free ascent of the elusive Riders on the Storm route on the East Face of Patagonia’s Torre Central. \nFilms showing Wednesday\, March 11:\n• Cold Calls: A ski film pieced together through conversations\, memories\, and whatever the season decided to offer.\n• My Grandmother’s Sketchbook – Under Mount Blanc: All it took was a few simple sketches from Max Romey’s Grandmother’s sketchbook to lead him on a generational scavenger hunt halfway across the world. The goal: to find and sketch from the exact spot where she stood all those years ago under Mont Blanc and make the same sketch in the same spot.\n• Old Man Lightning: The best climbing\, comedy\, comeback ever made\, with a conservation plight. It will make you laugh and cry.\n• Jaunt: In a stark warehouse office\, Justice is weighed down by mounting deadlines and an endless to-do list. But every day\, he finds escape in a one-hour ritual that reignites his spirit.\n• A Baffin Vacation\, Love on Ice: Join adventurers Erik and Sarah on yet another outrageous Baffin Vacation as they kite-ski north along the remote coastline of Baffin. Over their 69-day holiday\, they ski mountains\, climb an epic big wall\, and cross a glacier in search of new rivers to whitewater kayak.\n• Mandala: Kilian Bron and his team journey from Kathmandu to Nepal’s remote Dolpo region\, navigating dizzying ridgelines and timeless villages. SUMMARY:Flagstaff Premiere: Ghost Elephants
DESCRIPTION:This series continues on Wednesday\, March 11 with the Flagstaff premiere of “Ghost Elephants” at 7:00 p.m. at Theatrikos Theatre Company. \nDirected\, narrated and written by legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog\, “Ghost Elephants” is a lyrical tale of survival\, reconnection and the enduring power of ancient knowledge in the face of modern loss. \nIn the mist-covered highlands of Angola\, deep within its forests\, a mystery endures: the elusive ghost elephants of Lisima\, the potential living descendants of the largest land mammal ever recorded. Steve Boyes\, conservation biologist and leader of the National Geographic Okavango Wilderness Project\, is determined to prove their existence. \nIn order to find these elusive elephants\, Boyes and fellow National Geographic Explorer Kerllen Costa have teamed up with three KhoiSan master trackers: Xui\, Xui Dawid\, and Kobus. Refugees from a war-torn past who have faced considerable marginalization in southern Africa\, the trackers return to their ancestral lands to succeed where advanced technology could not. \n“Ghost Elephants” will show at Theatrikos Theatre Company on Wednesday\, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission and $9 for Film Festival members. \nFor tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. A technology researcher who suddenly finds himself an unwitting target in the heart of the dictatorship’s political maelstrom\, Marcelo is a man on the run from mercenary killers\, from ghosts of the past and from the ruthless\, mischievously militant spirit of Brazil in 1977. \nIn the midst of these mounting threats\, Marcelo\, with the help of a mysterious woman named Elza and her compatriots in the country’s growing underground resistance\, remains primarily focused on escaping Brazil with his young son. \nMaster filmmaker Kleber Mendonca Filho teams up with renowned actor Wagner Moura — giving an extraordinary\, career-defining performance — to craft a thrillingly unpredictable\, playfully shape-shifting epic steeped in history even as it feels remarkably contemporary\, paying affectionate tribute to the movies of Filho’s youth while unfolding against the backdrop of political turmoil and palpable danger. \n“The Secret Agent” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre March 13-19. SUMMARY:Four Rational People
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Four Rational People” showing March 13-19 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nAfter nearly 50 years of making music together\, the Emerson String Quartet plays its final notes. An intimate and timeless tour film. \nGoethe once said that a string quartet is like “a conversation between four rational people”\, and for the members of the Emerson String Quartet\, that conversation is coming to a bittersweet ending as they embark on their final season of a fifty-year history that includes 9 Grammy Awards and thousands of concerts. \nInterweaving vivid memories of the Emerson Quartet’s past with delicate observations of life on the road in the weeks and days before disbanding\, “Four Rational People” explores the group’s difficult decision to walk away from the things that they cherish most in life: the music they play and the friends they hold dear. \nA frank examination of the tyranny of aging and a passing of the torch to a new generation of artists\, “Four Rational People” culminates with one final Emerson Quartet performance for the ages\, leaving all to ponder what happens to us after the final curtain. \n“Four Rational People” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre March 13-19. Showtimes will be Friday\, Sunday and Monday\, March 13\, 15 and 16 at 4:00 p.m.; Tuesday\, March 17 at 3:00 p.m.; and Wednesday and Thursday\, March 18 and 19 at 7:00 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Improv Show: The Vortex Ate My Leprechaun!
DESCRIPTION:Outstanding comedic talent Ryan Rice and Second City Chicago-trained improviser Nick Shank joined the troupe six months ago. Hilarious Shakespearean actor Nathaniel Montgomery joined a few years back\, as well. All three bring their own special energies\, characters\, and impeccable comedic timing to Sedona’s longest-running improv troupe. \nThese performers join Second City Chicago-trained local favorites Derek Dujardin\, Shaeri Richards\, Chris Redish\, Shaunn Cochran\, Betty Testa\, Linda Roemer\, and Mary Carder. \n \n“Zenprov Comedy is the funniest improv troupe in Northern Arizona. People told me they were laughing so hard that their cheeks were hurting\,” said Mr. Patrick Schweiss\, Executive Director of the Sedona International Film Festival. \nGuest director Chris Redish says\, “There’s nothing we like more than making fun of ourselves\, and a show about the eccentricities of Sedona is the perfect opportunity to do that! Plus\, with St Patrick’s Day just around the corner\, we all get to practice our Irish accents\, with varying degrees of success!” \nThis show’s improvised game will include Sedona Returns Department\, where actors get to ‘return’ an aspect of Sedona they don’t like after living here\, and exchange it with something they would love for our community to have\, like a new Trader Joe’s. And also Chicago-style long-form. \nZenprov Comedy performs a mix of fast-paced\, hilarious\, improvised scenes created in the moment based on audience suggestions\, where scenes and characters interconnect. Unlike sketch or stand-up comedy\, nothing is scripted or prepared in advance\, so it is never the same show twice. \nZenprov Comedy is a local favorite that taps into the rich source material of living in a place steeped in spirituality\, UFOs\, vortexes\, gurus\, radical vegans\, and confused tourists lost in roundabouts. Zenprov’s otherworldly performances explore inventive satire and cosmic giggles. Please note the show is rated PG-13 but occasionally ventures into R territory. Performances can be suggestive\, irreverent\, and unapologetic\, but always apolitical. \nThis show may sell out\, so be sure to reserve tickets ahead of time. The show’s runtime is approximately 90 minutes. Tickets for this unique event are $16 in advance and $18 at the door. Purchase tickets online at Sedona at the BUY TICKETS link above. Mary D. Fisher Theatre is located at 2030 W. State Route 89A\, Sedona. To learn more about Zenprov\, visit ZenprovComedy.com.

SUMMARY:The Songs of Lennon and McCartney
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present “The Songs of Lennon and McCartney” starring The Sun Kings Acoustic Duo – Unplugged live at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday\, March 17 and 18. \n“The Songs of Lennon and McCartney” features Drew Harrison and Scott Southard\, the voices of Lennon and McCartney in one of America’s favorite and critically acclaimed Beatles tribute groups. A pair of top-notch singer/songwriters in their own right\, Drew and Scott share in acoustic performance their passion for the music of The Beatles and the John and Paul singing and writing partnership. \nDrew Harrison\, leader of The Sun Kings — A Beatles tribute as nature Intended — lends the uncanny vocals that have earned him recognition as one of the best Lennon interpreters in the world. He captures not only the sound\, but the nuance and emotion of Lennon’s voice\, without mimicry. A musician since 15\, Drew authentically conveys the detail\, sound\, and spirit of Lennon’s rhythm guitar playing; so important to the Beatles’ overall sound. In addition to The Sun Kings\, Drew also produces the shows In the Spirit of Lennon – Unplugged and Plastic Fauxno Band\, a full band tribute to the music and legacy of Lennon’s solo career. \n \nScott Southard\, an original singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist\, hails from Klamath Falls\, Oregon. He got his first guitar on his 9th birthday but later switched to upright bass. Ever musically curious\, Scott learned the mandolin and played bluegrass for several years. Failing to agree on a hairstyle kept him moving from band to band\, playing originals and covers of everything from Rush to Ellington. Eventually he decided the real money was in painstakingly crafted\, harmony laden\, intellectual semi-acoustic folk rock. Scott has been the McCartney in The Sun Kings since 2017. He also teaches video production at Folsom High School and performs with the Tom Petty tribute\, Great Wide Open. \nDrew and Scott present an enjoyable evening of your favorite Beatles songs\, with stories about the songs\, all laced with quite a bit of humor. This is a must-not-miss! \n“The Songs of Lennon and McCartney” takes the stage on Tuesday\, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday\, March 18 at 4:00 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres March 20-26. Showtimes will be Friday\, March 20 at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday and Wednesday\, March 22 and 25 at 7:00 p.m.; Monday\, March 23 at 3:00 p.m.; Tuesday\, March 24 at 4:00 p.m.; and Thursday\, March 26 at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Tristan und Isolde: Met Live Opera
DESCRIPTION:The Mary D. Fisher Theatre is honored to be the home for the Met Live Opera programs for the 2025-2026 season\, presented by the Sedona International Film Festival. \nThe season continues with Richard Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” live via simulcast on Saturday\, March 21 at 9 a.m. and the encore presentation on Wednesday\, March 25 at 1 p.m. \nPlan to come early as John Steinbrunner will lead a pre-opera talk one hour before the LIVE production on Saturday. \nAfter years of anticipation\, a truly unmissable event arrives in cinemas worldwide on March 21 as the electrifying Lise Davidsen tackles one of the ultimate roles for dramatic soprano: the Irish princess Isolde in Wagner’s transcendent meditation on love and death. Heroic tenor Michael Spyres stars opposite Davidsen as the love-drunk Tristan. \nThe momentous occasion also marks the advent of a new\, Met-debut staging by Yuval Sharon — hailed by The New York Times as “the most visionary opera director of his generation” and the first American to direct an opera at the famed Wagner festival in Bayreuth — as well as Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s first time leading “Tristan und Isolde” at the Met. \nMezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova reprises her portrayal of Brangäne\, alongside bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny\, who sings Kurwenal after celebrated Met appearances in Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer and Ring cycle. Bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green makes an important role debut as King Marke. \nACT I\nIsolde is being escorted by Tristan on his ship to Cornwall\, whose ruler (and Tristan’s foster father)\, Marke\, she is to marry. She tells her companion\, Brangäne\, how she once treated Tristan’s wounds after he killed her betrothed\, Morold. Now humiliated by her captivity\, she asks Brangäne to prepare poison for her and Tristan to drink. Brangäne gives them a love potion instead. As the ship sails into the harbor\, Tristan and Isolde confess their love. \nACT II\nThe lovers meet in secret while Marke is away. Tristan expresses his belief that love can only find fulfillment at night. Faced with the inevitability of their parting at daybreak\, Tristan and Isolde resolve to die. Marke discovers them and is devastated by Tristan’s disloyalty. Tristan implores Isolde to set off into the night with him. She agrees. After a struggle with Marke’s men\, Tristan is wounded and collapses. \nACT III\nTristan is lying in a coma with Kurwenal\, his aide\, watching over him. As his life slips away\, he recalls traumatic events\, including the death of his parents. Kurwenal has summoned Isolde\, and when her ship appears\, the delirious Tristan tears off his bandages and dies in her arms. Marke and Brangäne try to draw Isolde back to the realm of day and life\, but she expires in a rapture of ecstatic love. \nThe 2025-2026 Met Live Opera season in Sedona is generously sponsored by Chris Fladlien. \nThe Met Live Opera’s “Tristan und Isolde” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Saturday\, March 21 at 9 a.m. (live simulcast) with an encore on Wednesday\, March 25 at 1 p.m. The pre-opera talk will take place one hour before the live Saturday simulcast. \nTickets are $25 general admission\, $22 for Film Festival members\, and $15 for students. Tickets are available in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office or by calling 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. SUMMARY:Ghost Elephants
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Ghost Elephants” showing March 21-26 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres. \n“Ghost Elephants” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres March 21-26. Showtimes will be Saturday\, Sunday and Monday\, March 21\, 22 and 23 at 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday\, March 24 at 7:00 p.m.; and Wednesday and Thursday\, March 25 and 26 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Turner & Constable
DESCRIPTION:Sedona International Film Festival presents the Exhibition on Screen series with “Turner & Constable”. The film will premiere in Sedona on March 24 and 29 at the festival’s Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nCelebrating the 250th anniversary of their births\, this unmissable new documentary explores Turner and Constable’s intertwined lives and legacies alongside the groundbreaking Tate exhibition. \nTwo of Britain’s greatest painters\, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable were also the greatest of rivals. Born within a year of each other\, both used landscape painting to reflect the changing world around them. Tate Britain is brought these two greats together for a groundbreaking exhibition\, in London from November 2025 to April 2026\, and Exhibition on Screen once again has exclusive and privileged access to bring their extraordinary art and remarkable stories to the big screen so that you can enjoy both film and exhibition together. \nDiscover unexpected sides to both artists with intimate views of sketchbooks and personal items and insights from leading experts. \nTurner’s blazing sunsets and sublime scenes from his travels and Constable’s idealized depictions of beloved places from home whipped the public of the time into a frenzy of enthusiasm. Constable represents the very best of the old school of realism and pastoral nostalgia; Turner\, an exciting new way of depicting emotion and dreamlike impressions. Critics compared their starkly different styles to a clash of ‘fire and water’. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to see these greats side-by-side\, as they so often were in life\, on the big screen for the first time. \nThe Exhibition on Screen Series is generously sponsored by Goldenstein Gallery. \n“Turner & Constable” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre on Tuesday and Sunday\, March 24 and 29 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $15 general admission\, or $13 for Film Festival members. Tickets are available in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office or by calling 928-282-1177 or online at the BUY TICKETS link on the right. SUMMARY:The Optimist: The Bravest Act is Truth
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Optimist: The Bravest Act is Truth” showing March 27-April 2 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon and Mary D. Fisher Theatres. \nBased on a remarkable true story\, “The Optimist: The Bravest Act is Truth” traces the life of Herbert Heller and the unlikely friendship that transforms both him and a young woman searching for her own sense of direction. \nAs a boy\, Herbert survived the Holocaust and carried the weight of an unspoken secret for six decades\, choosing silence as a way to move through the world. When he meets Abby\, a perceptive and intuitive teenager quietly grappling with her own emotional burdens\, something shifts. Abby’s curiosity\, compassion\, and steady presence begin to open a door Herbert long believed was sealed. \nAs Herbert slowly shares the truth of his past\, an unexpected bond takes root—one that bridges generations and reveals how connection can illuminate even the darkest corners of memory. Through each other\, they discover understanding\, healing\, and the courage to finally voice what has been held inside. \nStarring Stephen Lang (Avatar) as Herbert\, Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade) as Abby\, and Luke David Blumm (Where the Crawdads Sing) as young Herbert\, “The Optimist: The Bravest Act is Truth” is a profoundly moving film about resilience\, remembrance\, and the life-changing impact of being truly heard. It is a testament to the power of storytelling — and to the hope found in human connection. \n“The Optimist: The Bravest Act is Truth” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon and Mary D. Fisher Theatres March 27-April 2. Showtimes will be Friday and Saturday\, March 27 and 28 at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday and Monday\, March 29 and 30 at 7:00 p.m.; and Tuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, March 31\, April 1 and 2 at 4:00 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:A Magnificent Life
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “A Magnificent Life” showing March 27-April 2 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon and Mary D. Fisher Theatres. \nIn 1955\, 60-year-old Marcel Pagnol is a well-known and acclaimed playwright and filmmaker. When the editor-in-chief of ELLE magazine commissions a weekly column about Pagnol’s childhood\, he sees this as a great opportunity to go back to his artistic roots: writing. \nRealizing his memory is failing him and deeply affected by the disappointing results of his last two plays\, Pagnol starts doubting his ability to pursue his work. That is until Little Marcel — the young boy he used to be — appears to him as if by magic. \nTogether\, they will explore Marcel Pagnol’s incredible life and bring back to life his most cherished encounters and memories. His memories resurface as the words flow: the arrival of talkies\, the first major film studio\, his attachment to actors\, the experience of writing. \nThe greatest storyteller of all time becomes the hero of his own story. \n“A Magnificent Life” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon and Mary D. Seen from the dog Flame’s point of view\, we experience how a “career change” from being a herding dog to being a specially trained service dog\, allows her to positively transform the life of her veteran\, who suffers from PTSD. \n• The Golden Retriever Bachelor: As a spoof on the reality TV show\, three older women compete for the affection of a senior dog\, Cooper — a tongue-in-cheek story meant to encourage adoption of senior dogs. \n• Jamtland Dogs: A documentary following two women dog sled racers preparing for an international dog sledding competition in Northern Sweden. \n• The Funeral: A moving memorial service given by a family who want to honor the dog they loved. \n• Brought Back to Life: Retired firefighter who has lost his purpose in his life finds it again with a search-and-rescue dog who is rescued from a shelter. \n• A Touch of Romance: A woman is so caught up reading stories of love\, she is oblivious to a man who has fallen in love with her – but his dog figures out how to orchestrate “a touch of romance.” \n• Chocolate Retriever: A claymation rendering of what a woman does to rescue her dog from the toxic-for-dogs chocolate bar he has ingested. \n• Lessons from the Life and Death of Clifford: A sweet\, sad philosophical contemplation about what death is like for our dogs and what it might be for us. \n• The Tube: An animated rendition of the London Underground or “tube\,” imagining the passengers as canines. \n \n• Hustle and Run: A documentary about a scrappy band of “everyday” women from a small town in England\, who compete as the underdogs with their canine pack in Flyball (a competition known as “the F1 of dog sports”) and go all the way to Crufts\, the renowned British dog show. \n• Companions for Life: A documentary that is a testimonial about how a trained service dog has opened up his person’s world. \n• The Singular Affair of the Missing Ball: An animated tale of the canine sleuth\, Sherlock Whippet\, who solves a mystery with the help of his intrepid companion\, Dr. Woofson\, a Bulldog. \n• One Mind: A PURINA SERVICE DOG SALUTE WINNER! A glimpse into the life-changing freedom and love provided by Holly\, a specially trained PTSD service dog who became a lifeline and soulmate for her veteran with PTSD\, who had previously been housebound and suicidal. \n• I’m Still Here; a Dog’s Purpose Forever: A poetically artistic rendering of Michon’s spiritual\, uplifting book by the same name\, reminding us that when our dogs die they never leave us. \n“New York Dog Film Festival 2026” is presented in partnership with the Humane Society of Sedona. \n“New York Dog Film Festival 2026” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre March 28-April 2.
