SUMMARY:Never Stop Chasing
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Never Stop Chasing” showing Aug. 28-Sept. 2 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre. \nStorm chaser Reed Timmer and his crew pursue the world’s most powerful tornadoes\, confronting danger\, friendship\, and the personal cost of a life driven by the relentless pursuit of storms in the immersive documentary “Never Stop Chasing”. \nReed Timmer pursues a life hunting the world’s most violent weather. Haunted by the tragic death of his mentor\, Tim Samaras\, in the historic 2013 El Reno tornado\, and the sudden loss of his best friend and long-time chase partner\, Joel Taylor\, Reed’s life on the edge takes a severe emotional toll. Driven by an unshakeable compulsion\, he pushes his mind and body to the absolute limit in pursuit of the perfect storm. \nOperating the custom-built\, armored “Dominator 3\,” Reed and his eclectic crew—Connor\, Mike\, Edgar\, and “Local Man”—plunge directly into the impact zones of apocalyptic supercells. Despite holding a Ph.D. in meteorology\, Reed’s highly aggressive intercept tactics constantly put him at odds with a traditional scientific establishment that frequently dismisses his controversial approach. The film captures the duality of their extreme lifestyle: the euphoric highs of intercepting a tornado alongside an embedded New York Times reporter\, and the terrifying lows of being overtaken by a massive wedge tornado inside their vehicle. \nWhen the Dominator suffers a catastrophic engine failure\, the team is forced to continue their pursuit in a vulnerable rental car. This fateful decision places them directly in the path of the devastating 2024 Greenfield tornado. Confronting the horrific human toll left in the storm’s wake\, Reed and his team must reconcile the adrenaline of the chase with the profound destruction they witness. Ultimately\, the renegade crew captures unprecedented visual data that forces the meteorological establishment to finally validate Reed’s methods\, cementing a historic breakthrough in tornado science. \n“Never Stop Chasing” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Aug. 28-Sept. 2. Showtimes will be Friday\, Saturday and Sunday\, Aug. 28\, 29 and 30 at 6:30 p.m.; and Monday\, Tuesday and Wednesday\, Aug. 31\, Sept. 1 and 2 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.

SUMMARY:Flagstaff Premiere: In the Company of Wolves
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with Theatrikos Theatre Company to bring movies to Downtown Flagstaff! \nThis series continues on Wednesday\, Sept. 2 with the Flagstaff premiere of “In the Company of Wolves: An American Journey” at 7:00 p.m. at Theatrikos Theatre Company. \nAcademy Award-winner Jeff Bridges narrates this stunning journey\, following wolves and other animals as co-travelers through American history — from the shores of England to the birth of the New Republic\, and ultimately the colonization of the vast\, contested landscapes of the modern American West. \nA place where the ensemble doesn’t merely walk through history; they trot\, lope\, stampede\, and migrate across it — reminding us that the wild and the domesticated alike have always reflected a deeper story of who we are as a nation\, and who we might yet become. \n \n“With surprising and little-known histories that stretch back to England before unfolding across the landscapes of the American West\, I never intended to make a film only about wolves\, although they figure prominently throughout\,” said director Susan Kucera. \n“It is through wolves\, bison\, horses\, sheep\, cattle\, and other animals that the film explores the strange contradictions\, myths\, unexpected connections\, competing ideas of freedom\, and the invention of the American frontier. And of course\, Jeff Bridges carries the story with curiosity\, humanity\, and gravitas.” \n“In the Company of Wolves: An American Journey” will show at Theatrikos Theatre Company on Wednesday\, Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission and $9 for Film Festival members. \nFor tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Tickets can also be ordered in advance online at the BUY TICKETS link to the right. \n  \n \nTheatrikos Theatre Company is located at 11 W. Cherry Ave. in Downtown Flagstaff. \n  \n \nThis partnership and collaboration is made possible by a generous grant from Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff. \n

SUMMARY:Third Ear Musical Improv
DESCRIPTION:What happens when eight fearless performers\, two brilliant musicians\, and an audience full of ideas come together? Nobody knows…and that’s exactly the point. \nAfter nearly two years of honing their craft\, The Third Ear Musical Improv Troupe takes the stage for their first full-length performance on Wednesday\, September 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre in Sedona. \nThe evening will feature a completely improvised 50-to-60 minute Broadway-style musical\, along with several shorter musical improv pieces. Every scene\, every character\, every lyric\, every melody\, and every harmony will be created on the spot from audience suggestions. Nothing is scripted. It all happens live\, once…and never again. \nA portion of the proceeds will benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Yavapai County\, helping support education\, advocacy\, and resources for individuals and families affected by mental illness. \nThird Ear Musical Improv was founded by Dr. Linda Roemer and is co-directed by Shaeri Richards and Chris Redish. The troupe brings together some of Northern Arizona’s most experienced improvisers along with exciting new talent. \n \nFive members — Shaeri Richards\, Chris Redish\, Linda Roemer\, Mary Carder\, and Ryan Rice — performed for years with Sedona’s beloved improv troupe Zenprov\, which recently concluded an extraordinary 15-year run. Joining them are Karen Golden\, Daniel Flynn\, and Cheryl Good\, members of the recently formed troupe Super Improv\, with Ryan Rice performing in both ensembles. \nProviding the musical magic are acclaimed husband-and-wife duo Ché Leone on guitar and Scott Vankleek on bass. Their ability to instantly create music in a variety of styles gives the performers an endless playground for spontaneous songs\, emotional ballads\, comic duets\, and ensemble pieces. \nWhile improvisational theater has entertained audiences since the 1950s\, musical improvisation takes the challenge to another level. Instead of simply inventing dialogue and characters\, performers must also create lyrics\, melodies\, harmonies\, choreography\, and story—all at the same time. It’s equal parts theater\, comedy\, music\, and high-wire act\, and audiences become collaborators by providing the suggestions that launch the adventure. \n“The audience isn’t just watching the show\,” says co-director Shaeri Richards. “They’re inspiring it.” Every performance is a world premiere\, and a closing night\, because each show is made up in the moment and will never happen again. Come join the fun and be part of an unforgettable evening of theatrical magic. \n“Third Ear Musical Improv” takes the stage on Wednesday\, Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m. \nTickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door. Click on the BUY TICKETS link to the right to order tickets online\, or call 928-282-1177 to order by phone. Both the Sedona International Film Festival Office and the Mary D. SUMMARY:Dance of the Wild
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the encore of “Dance of the Wild” on Thursday and Friday\, Sept. 3 and 4 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nThe film is returning to Sedona by popular demand after a sold out premiere in June. \nMeet one of the main characters of the film\, Michelle Peterson\, founder of Medicine Horse Healing and local Sedona horse woman.  She will be hosting and leading a live discussion and Q&A after the screenings. \n“Dance of the Wild” is an award-winning documentary that takes you on a poetic journey into humanity’s timeless bond and fascination with the wild horse — a connection that mirrors our relationship to nature\, spirit\, and the deeper layers of the soul. \nDirected by award-winning filmmaker Chance Foreman\, the film takes you through sweeping landscapes\, intimate stories\, and teachings rooted in natural law. It reveals why wild horses are more than symbols of American heritage — they are sentient\, mystical beings whose wisdom is vital to our survival and evolution. \n \nAt its heart\, the film celebrates the sacredness of Mustangs and the urgent need to protect and honor them as irreplaceable national treasures and profound teachers of the unseen world. \nAs modern pressures threaten both the Earth and all living beings\, “Dance of the Wild” invites viewers on a journey of remembrance: a return to heart\, to land\, and to the ancient magic shared between human and horse. \nUltimately\, the film poses a profound question: What if this sacred relationship holds the key to our collective healing and evolution? \n“Dance of the Wild” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Thursday\, Sept. 3 at 4:00 p.m. and Friday\, Sept. 4 at 7:00 p.m. with mustang trainer Michelle Peterson present for a live Q&A discussion at both screenings. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A\, in West Sedona.

SUMMARY:American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez” showing Sept. 3-10 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres. \nMEET THE FILMMAKERS on preview night: Thursday\, Sept. 3 at 7:00 p.m. Writer/director/producer David Alvadaro and producer Everett Katigbak will be in Sedona to host the preview night film and post-screening Q&A discussion! \nAgainst political resistance and industry skepticism\, Luis Valdez pushes Chicano storytelling from the fields to the film screen with “Zoot Suit” and “La Bamba”\, crafting iconic works that challenge\, celebrate\, and expand America’s story. \n \nAn auteur emerges from America’s underclass: from migrant farmworker to revolutionary artist\, Luis Valdez changed American culture. In the 1960s\, his El Teatro Campesino performed on flatbed trucks and helped mobilize workers to win the first farmworker union contract. His “Zoot Suiet” was the first Chicano play on Broadway. \nDespite critical rejection that killed the show\, he persevered\, creating “La Bamba” — a breakout blockbuster that authentically depicted Mexican American life to the world. Now in its 60th year\, El Teatro continues to be a beacon for Latino/a creators. This is the story of an artist who gave voice to the overlooked and opened pathways for generations. \nThe film features Lou Diamond Phillips\, Cheech Marin\, labor activist Dolores Huerta\, Linda Ronstadt\, and Edward James Olmos (who narrates the film\, reprising the role of “Zoot Suit’s” El Pachuco). \n“Inventive and engaging.” — The Playlist \n“Enlightening and entertaining.” — The Hollywood Reporter \n“American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres Sept. 3-10. Showtimes will be Thursday\, Sept. 3 at 7:00 p.m.; Friday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, Sept. 4\, 9 and 10 at 6:30 p.m.; and Sunday\, Monday and Tuesday\, Sept. 6\, 7 and 8 at 3:30 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members. SUMMARY:Victoria Cardona in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Singer/songwriter Victoria Cardona makes her Sedona debut in a special concert at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Saturday\, Sept. 5 at 7:00 p.m.\, presented by the Sedona International Film Festival. \nBased out of South Florida\, Victoria Cardona is a Cuban American singer/songwriter\, guitarist\, and multi-instrumentalist. Her live looping performances are a sonic and visual experience that take the audience on a ride through the mind of a spontaneous improvisationalist. \nWith the aid of the Boss RC-600 loop pedal\, Victoria stacks intricate layers of guitar\, bass\, percussion\, and vocal harmonies to create a backdrop for smokey\, alto vocals and ripping lead guitar. \n \nVictoria’s Cuban roots and familiarity with multicultural music genres provide the inspiration for the strong rhythmic undertone she delivers in conjunction with a harmonic counterpart that fuses elements of jazz\, blues\, soul\, Afro-Cuban\, Afro-Caribbean\, salsa\, and rock ’n’ roll. \nGrowing up in a traditional Cuban household\, she was influenced by legends like Celia Cruz and Gloria Estefan. After studying jazz guitar in Florida and Minnesota\, she developed her live looping\, one-woman-band project. Victoria’s international tours took her across Europe\, while her active Southeast U.S. performances sharpened her sound. \nVictoria released her debut studio album\, Que Pasó\, on June 27\, 2025. Produced by Tim Goodman\, the album sees Victoria with a full band for a collection of eight original and three creative cover songs. The album blends Cuban rhythms with jazz\, rock\, and world influences\, reflecting her personal history and cultural heritage. \nQue Pasó reached #1 Album on The Roots Music Report’s Top 50 World Album Chart. \n \n“Victoria is a powerhouse of energy and musical inspiration!” — Paradigms \n“In Que Pasó\, Victoria Cardona steps forward as a singer and instrumentalist that creates vessels of memory\, a channel for generational stories\, and a cartographer of emotion. Her debut album is a collection of songs curated with a fresh resonance. What begins with the rhythmic heartbeat of Havana in the title track unfolds into a richly layered exploration on identity\, exile\, joy\, grief\, and return.” — 5 Finger Review\, Elberton Cisnero \nJoin us for Victoria Cardona in Concert on Saturday\, Sept. 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. \nClick on the BUY TICKETS link to the right to order tickets online\, or call 928-282-1177 to order by phone. SUMMARY:Chris Murphy: Live in Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present violinist Chris Murphy: Live in Concert on Monday\, Sept. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \nChris Murphy is an international touring violinist\, singer-songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist whose powerful live performances blend Americana\, Folk\, Jazz\, Celtic\, World music\, and improvisation into what he calls a “live film score.” \n   \nBased in Los Angeles\, Murphy performs more than 200 concerts each year throughout the United States and Europe\, captivating audiences with expressive violin playing\, heartfelt songwriting\, and an engaging stage presence. \nWhether performing intimate original songs or expansive instrumental soundscapes\, Murphy’s music explores themes of love\, loss\, redemption\, hope\, and resilience. \n“Both wily\, charismatic performer and fire-breathing virtuoso of the violin\, Chris Murphy crams more musical mileage into short set than most players do in an entire tour.” — Future Music Magazine \n \nABOUT CHRIS MURPHY\nChris Murphy grew up in an Irish-Italian family near New York City\, surrounded by the disparate sounds of his neighbors’ traditional music: Italian mandolin songs\, pulsing Latin rhythms\, and bracing Irish rounds. Eventually falling under the spell of late\, great multi-instrumentalist David Lindley (Jackson Browne\, Ry Cooder\, Bob Dylan) Murphy went on to explore Turkish and Indian music at Bard College and studied composition at Boston’s prestigious New England Conservatory of Music. \nSince then\, Murphy has hypnotized crowds in more than forty US states\, done extensive tours of England\, Belgium \, and The Netherlands\, and amassed a breathtakingly deep catalog of over 500 works. His over fifteen original albums — including 2023’s brilliant “The Road & the Stars” — boast A-list players from the Tom Waits band\, Wilco\, X\, The Desert Rose Band\, Elvis Costello\, and the Buena Vista Social Club. \n“To me\, music is liquid\,” Murphy explains thoughtfully. “I’ll twist and turn\, and hammer and mold\, and shape\, cut\, and paste the music to create a fresh experience for my audience at all costs.” \nChris Murphy: Live in Concert takes the stage at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Monday\, Sept. 7 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door and include a meet-and-greet with Chris Murphy in the lobby after the show. \nClick on the BUY TICKETS link to the right to order tickets online\, or call 928-282-1177 to order by phone. Driven by the earthly pulse of the African Drum woven with guitar\, harmonica and soulful melodies\, Groove Oasis creates music that crosses borders while staying rooted in something universal\, the human heart. This is music meant to be felt as much as heard – uplifting\, spontaneous\, rhythmic and alive drawing inspiration from world music\, blues\, African rhythms and the open spirit of the desert. \nThe band draws upon the incredible talents of Vusi Shibambo on African Drums\, marimba and handpan\, Jim Pope on harmonica and cajon\, and Keith Martini on guitar. \n \nBaba “Vusi” Shibambo\nBaba “Vusi” Shibambo is a master South African percussionist\, touring performer and recording artist. Vusi began playing drums as a young boy and later toured internationally with South African stage productions. Just prior to coming to the United States in the early 1990’s\, Shibambo and his band Azumah played for Nelson Mandela and the many South Africans celebrating his historic release from prison. Shibambo is a multi-instrumentalist playing African Djembe\, dununs congas\, marimbas\, mbira (kalimba or finger piano) and Bushman’s bow. He is the founder of the African Music and Arts Village\, a high-energy\, interactive music and cultural program he brings to schools\, libraries and summer camps throughout Arizona and California. In recent years\, he has been a 4-time recipient of the Glendale\, AZ Performing Arts Grant. \nKeith Martini\nKeith Martini is a Musician/Composer who has been in Sedona for over 30 years. Formally trained in classical guitar at SUNY Buffalo\, he has also studied with jazz instructors Pat Martino\, Tuck Andress and Stanley Jordan. Keith and Stanley also collaborated on education and music school development. He has taught guitar as a Professor at Yavapai College. Keith has performed countless gigs ranging from coffee shop solos\, bars\, conventions\, private parties\, TV appearances\, rock operas\, funk bands\, techno\, blues\, heavy metal\, Flamenco\, free and standard jazz\, Classical concertos\, and improv dance. He has produced and written albums for a variety of artists always exploring new creative opportunities. \nJim Pope\nJim Pope is a professional rock vocalist and front man hailing from Mount Vernon\, NY. With a degree in music and business management\, and nearly 2 decades of sales and managerial experience with one of the largest musical instrument retailers in the country\, he has developed true\, hands-on working knowledge of many musical styles\, instruments and sound gear. He fell in love with the blues harmonica and later the cajon\, also known as the box drum. Over time\, he began singing\, playing harmonica and cajon all at once! By night\, Jim also worked as a studio assistant when he wasn’t gigging with various bands or hosting open mics and karaoke nights around NYC. \n \nThe vibrant energy and stage presence of these talented performers will leave you thrilled as you experience this magical space where rhythm meets the heart. \nTickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. \nFor tickets and more information\, please call 928-282-1177 or to order online\, click on the BUY TICKETS link to the right. SUMMARY:Occupational Hazard: The First Coral Reefers
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to join theaters around the globe to present the worldwide premiere of “Occupational Hazard: The First Coral Reefers” — a documentary about Jimmy Buffet — showing Sept. 18 and 19 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. \n“Occupational Hazard: The First Coral Reefers” is a feature documentary that journeys back to the 1970s and early 1980s to tell the story of Jimmy Buffett’s original Coral Reefer Band. Set against the creative backdrop of Key West\, the film explores the musicians\, friendships\, touring years\, and studio sessions that helped shape Buffett’s legendary sound. \nThrough rare\, never-before-seen archival footage and deeply personal interviews with founding members\, tour managers\, producers and music legends\, “Occupational Hazard” captures the camaraderie\, chaos\, and magic of an era that thrived on freedom and lived without a rulebook. \nNarrated by Academy-award winner Jeff Bridges\, “Occupational Hazard” offers fans a deeper look at the people behind the music and the era that helped define Jimmy Buffett’s lasting legacy. This film is a tribute to Buffett and the original Coral Reefers\, the places and people that shaped them\, the volatile beauty of a musical moment that couldn’t last but changed everything and their candid sentiment toward Buffett. It’s the origin story upon which the Parrot Head empire was built upon\, by the people who helped lay the foundation. \n“Occupational Hazard: The First Coral Reefers” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre Sept. 18 and 19. Showtimes will be Friday\, Sept. 18 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday\, Sept. 19 at 4:00 p.m. \nTickets are $12\, or $9 for Film Festival members.
