Even for those who attended the two-act version back in November 2025\, “Dead Quilters” has changed a lot with expanded storylines\, added new songs and dynamic twists. For those who’ve attended past performances\, this production has evolved! \nThe dynamite writing team of Shondra Jepperson and Dev Ross has incorporated feedback from both fans and directors outside Sedona into this newly revised version. Dev Ross has addressed lingering questions\, weaving deeper background details into the show\, and composer Shondra Jepperson has expanded the score from its original nine songs to a full 12 — including a brand-new musical number custom-crafted for TV and movie star Gail Edwards. \n \nThe historical women whose stories are told in this production are Marguerite Staude\, Katie Lee\, Annie Wauneka\, Dora Chavez Madrid\, and Fanny Gulick. DESCRIPTION:Northern Arizona University and the Sedona International Film Festival are partnering to present The Classics\, a monthly classic film series. \nNAU/SIFF Classics will be curated and hosted by School of Communication Professor Emeritus Paul Helford. \nThe series will continue on Tuesday\, Oct. 13 with “Arsenic and Old Lace”. \nThe funniest — and perhaps best — Halloween movie ever! Cary Grant is hilarious\, Raymond Massey channels Boris Karloff’s Frankenstein’s Monster\, and Peter Lorre is perfect. Directed by Frank Capra\, this gleefully macabre comedy follows two sweet\, matronly aunts who “help” lonely old gentlemen by spiking their homemade elderberry wine with arsenic. \nCary Grant stars as Mortimer Brewster\, a drama critic and playwright who has famously condemned marriage. Returning home to announce his wedding\, he discovers his sweet aunts are serial killers who “help” lonely old gentlemen by spiking homemade elderberry wine with arsenic and burying victims in the cellar. \nFrank Capra directed “Arsenic and Old Lace” in 1942\, but its release was delayed until the Broadway hit closed years later. Most Broadway stars reprised their roles\, except Boris Karloff\, the theater’s biggest box-office draw. Raymond Massey took the role of Jonathan\, Mortimore’s older murderous brother\, hilariously evoking Karloff’s Frankenstein’s Monster. Peter Lorre is superb as Dr. Einstein\, Jonathan’s plastic surgeon accomplice. Grant disliked his performance\, but audiences have always loved it. \nPaul Helford will introduce the film\, provide historical and artistic context\, and lead a discussion following the movie. \nA lifelong film lover Helford has taught and written about films for over 50 years. As a television station manager and award-winning producer\, he produced and hosted a weekly classic TV film show. He’s taught high school and college film classes. Like his stage performance\, the film traces an extraordinary life lived at the center of modern music history. \nFrom his early years as a child actor in 1950s London to the Swinging Sixties\, Asher emerges as a Zelig-like figure in the culture of the era: one half of the pop duo “Peter and Gordon\,” recipients of four chart-topping hits penned by Paul McCartney; the first head of A&R at Apple Records; and co-owner of the Indica Gallery\, the epicenter of London’s countercultural art scene. \nAsher helped define a generation of singer-songwriters as producer and manager for James Taylor\, Linda Ronstadt\, and others\, cementing his reputation as one of music’s most influential behind-the-scenes forces of the 1970s and ‘80s. Fisher Theatre\, presented by the Sedona International Film Festival. \nFrench acoustic guitar virtuoso\, vocalist\, and composer Pierre Bensusan has taken his unique sound to all corners of the globe. \nWinner of the Independent Music Award for his triple live album “Encore”\, voted Best World Music Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine readers’ Poll\, winner of the Rose d’Or at the Montreux Festival for his debut album\, Pierre is recognized as one of the greatest guitar players of the 21st century. \nWhen Michael Hedges titles one of his compositions “Bensusan”\, you know that the inspiration behind it must be special\, and Pierre Bensusan certainly is. Guitarists from Leo Kottke to Larry Corryel\, to Tuck Andress\, Tommy Emmanuel\, Mark Knopfler\, Andrew York\, Andy Timmons\, Pat Metheny\, and Steve Lukather have sung his praises\, and Steve Vai released three Bensusan albums on his label Favored Nations.
