Movies in Flagstaff with ‘The Last Station’ on screen Wednesday, Oct. 18

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with Theatrikos Theatre Company to bring movies to Downtown Flagstaff!

This series continues on Wednesday, Oct. 18 with the Flagstaff premiere of “The Last Station” at 7:00 p.m. at Theatrikos Theatre Company.

“The Last Station” features an award-winning all-star cast, including Christopher Plummer, Helen Mirren, James McAvoy, Paul Giamatti and Kerry Condon.

The film was nominated for two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards, including Best Actress for Helen Mirren and Best Supporting Actor for Christopher Plummer.

In 1910, famed novelist Leo Tolstoy (Christopher Plummer) and his wife Sofya (Helen Mirren) vehemently disagree over the rights to Tolstoy’s literary legacy. Sofya believes her husband should bequeath them to her upon his death, while Tolstoy’s chief disciple, Chertkov (Paul Giamatti), has nearly convinced the writer to sign the rights over to the Russian people. To this end, Chertkov inserts a spy — Valentin Bulgakov (James McAvoy) — into Tolstoy’s household, who promptly falls for one of the novelist’s daughters.

“Three superb performances by Helen Mirren, Christopher Plummer and James McAvoy!” — Stephen Farber, The Hollywood Reporter

“The incomparable Helen Mirren is simply astounding. Christopher Plummer is her match. The sight of these two acting giants going at each other should come under the heading of pure, rowdy pleasure.” — Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

“The Last Station” will show at Theatrikos Theatre Company on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission and $9 for Film Festival members and $10 for students.
