Mistura

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Mistura” showing Aug. 14-20 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.

“Mistura” has won Best Feature Film awards at numerous film festivals across the United States, including Newport Beach, Sarasota, Durango, Stony Brook and Woods Hole.

A prejudiced Franco-Peruvian woman is forced by financial necessity to open a restaurant in her home after her husband leaves her for another woman. Alongside a Nikkei chef, an indigenous cook and an Afro-Peruvian driver, she discovers Peru’s cultural and culinary diversity during the prosperous yet turbulent Lima of 1965.

Her husband’s betrayal ostracizes her from elite society and leads her to embrace people from the very communities that she was raised to disregard.

Amidst the backdrop of newfound alliances, she embarks on a transformative journey that challenges societal norms and reveals Peru’s authentic identity through a daring culinary venture that celebrates the country’s remarkably diverse cuisine and peoples, igniting a revolution that redefines her life.

“Mistura” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Aug. 14-20. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Aug. 14, 15, 16 and 17 at 6:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 18, 19 and 20 at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona.
