The Sedona International Film Festival — now in its 27th year — provides a unique natural backdrop and an enlightening festival experience for our three SCREENPLAY COMPETITION winners. Meeting filmmakers, producers and executives from all over the world in conversations at lunch and dinner, with cuisine provided by Sedona’s finest restaurants for all VIP personnel are just the beginning. Parties at Sedona’s best hotels, restaurants and clubs will allow mingling with Industry contacts to continue. Between going to panels, films, Q&As, meals and parties, you’ll explore the red rocks of Sedona, undoubtably, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Besides the prizes (below) you’ll come away with an unforgettable experience that could kick-start your budding screenwriting journey, and become SIFF alumni forever!

AWARDS AND PRIZES:

1st place FEATURE SCRIPT: One VIP pass, up to 4 nights in hotel, awards bruncheon, an hour consultation with an executive, a festival TV interview, full script coverage and feedback meeting.
1st place TV PILOT (1/2 hr. or 1 hr.): One VIP pass, up to 4 nights in hotel, awards bruncheon, an hour consultation with an executive, a festival TV interview, full script coverage and feedback meeting.
1st place SHORT: One VIP pass, up to 4 nights in hotel, awards bruncheon, an hour consultation with an executive, a festival TV interview, full script coverage and feedback meeting.

EACH First place winner above will be given a plaque at the awards bruncheon in front of hundreds of industry creatives. Who knows? Maybe they’re looking for an award-winning writer!

RULES:

• We are looking for the best writing, page-turners that hook the reader to create your movie in their heads.
• Screenplays should be submitted with a title page and name, other personal information are optional.
• Scripts must be saved and submitted as a PDF document.
• The title of the PDF document must be saved in the format: (Screenplay Title by Author First and Last Name) For Example – “Taxi Driver” by Paul Schrader.
• Submissions are accepted via electronic submission only.
• There is no limit to the number of projects you may submit. (Submit separately with new fees.)
• Entries must be received on or before the deadlines and payment made in full at time of the submission. (Due by 11:59 pm on end-date!)
• All submitted material must be original, and/or all rights must be optioned or owned by the entrant at the time of submitting.
• Adaptations are ineligible unless the underlying rights are owned or the work is in the public domain.
• Material written by writing teams must be submitted by one of the writers, with consent of the other.
• If a writing team is chosen as a winner, prizes will be given to the person who submits the project. Each team is responsible for sharing the prize as they see fit. (Discounted VIP passes for co-winners!)
• Winning applicants will receive an e-mail notifying them of the competition results. Check for announcements about quarterfinalists, semi, finalists at announced dates.
• Substitutions of corrected pages or new drafts of the entered material are not allowed.
• It is recommended (but not necessary) that original material be registered with the WGA or The Library of Congress before submitting to any competition.


ELIGIBILITY:

• All unproduced screenplays written in English are eligible.
• All ages from anywhere in the world are eligible.
• All material submitted to other competitions or contests are eligible.
• There are no requirements as to when the material was written.
• The material submitted must not be published or produced prior to entering the competition.
• Any submitted work that is published or produced between the time of submission and the end of the judging period will no longer be eligible.
• Material should be submitted in its proper format, font, spacing and margins.
• Feature Screenplays longer than 140 pages will not be eligible.
