Outdoor Film: Spaceballs

It’s “Big Screen at Basecamp” as the Sedona International Film Festival partners with Sedona Beer Company for its “Movies on the Move” cinema under the stars outdoor film experience at Basecamp in West Sedona — every Thursday in the summer season!

Join us on Thursday, Sept. 3 as we present “Spaceballs” at Basecamp/Sedona Beer Company at dusk.

“Spaceballs” (1987) is a sci-fi comedy directed by Mel Brooks with an all-star ensemble cast. It is a spoof of the original “Star Wars” trilogy, along with other pop culture staples like “Star Trek” and “Alien”. In a distant galaxy, planet Spaceball has depleted its air supply, leaving its citizens reliant on a product called “Perri-Air.” In desperation, Spaceball’s leader President Skroob (Mel Brooks) orders the evil Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) to kidnap Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) of oxygen-rich Druidia and hold her hostage in exchange for air. But help arrives for the Princess in the form of renegade space pilot Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his half-man, half-dog partner, Barf (John Candy).

Basecamp will offer a selection of craft beers, food and beverages (and a special menu item themed to each film), with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Sedona International Film Festival.

“Spaceballs” will be shown outdoors at Basecamp Sedona Beer Company (70 Dry Creek Road) on Thursday, Sept. 3 at dusk. Seating will begin at 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs. Parking is free and available at Basecamp and the Sedona Public Library.

Tickets are only $10 each, and kids 12 and under are free of charge.
