Outdoor Film: The Sting

Outdoor films are coming to the Village! The Sedona International Film Festival is partnering with Village of Oak Creek Association to present its “Movies on the Move” outdoor film experience on Mondays throughout the summer.

Join us on Monday, Aug. 31 when we present “The Sting” outdoors at the Village of Oak Creek Association Park, next to the clubhouse.

“The Sting” (1973) — an iconic 1930s-era caper film — was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, winning seven Oscars, including Best Picture. Following the murder of a mutual friend, aspiring con man Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) teams up with old pro Henry Gondorff (Paul Newman) to take revenge on the ruthless crime boss responsible, Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw). Hooker and Gondorff set about implementing an elaborate scheme, one so crafty that Lonnegan won’t even know he’s been swindled. As their big con unfolds, however, things don’t go according to plan, requiring some last-minute improvisation by the undaunted duo.

Bring your lawn chair or blanket and relax in front of a massive outdoor movie screen. Enjoy food and beverage offerings from the festival’s “Movies on the Move” mobile concession stand.

“The Sting” will be shown outdoors at the VOC Association Park (690 Bell Rock Boulevard in the Village of Oak Creek) on Monday, Aug. 31 at dusk. Seating will begin at 7:00 p.m. Parking is free and available onsite.

Tickets are only $10 each, and kids 12 and under are free of charge.
