Outdoor Film: An Officer and a Gentleman
It’s “Big Screen at Basecamp” as the Sedona International Film Festival partners with Sedona Beer Company for its “Movies on the Move” cinema under the stars outdoor film experience at Basecamp in West Sedona — every Thursday in the summer season!
Join us on Thursday, July 23 as we present “An Officer and a Gentleman” at Basecamp/Sedona Beer Company at dusk.
“An Officer and a Gentleman” (1982) was nominated for six Academy Awards, winning two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor (Louis Gossett Jr.) and Best Original Song (Up Where We Belong).
Zack Mayo (Richard Gere), a new member of the U.S. Navy, has a bad attitude. When he signs up for the Aviation Academy, he is met with the strict leadership of Sgt. Emil Foley (Louis Gossett Jr.), who gives Zack a rude awakening in terms of relating with other people. Through Foley’s guidance — and an unexpected romance with Paula (Debra Winger), an outsider who hangs around the naval base — Zack learns some tough lessons and discovers what he truly wants out of life.
Basecamp will offer a selection of craft beers, food and beverages (and a special menu item themed to each film), with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Sedona International Film Festival.
“An Officer and a Gentleman” will be shown outdoors at Basecamp Sedona Beer Company (70 Dry Creek Road) on Thursday, July 23 at dusk. Seating will begin at 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs. Parking is free and available at Basecamp and the Sedona Public Library.
Tickets are only $10 each, and kids 12 and under are free of charge.
