Oscar Shorts 2026: ANIMATION

Now an annual film festival tradition, Sedona audiences will be able to see all of the short films nominated for Academy Awards before the Oscar telecast on March 15. A perennial hit with audiences around the country (and the world), don’t miss this year’s selection of shorts. All of the Animated Short Film nominees will be featured in this program.

The Oscar-nominated Animated Shorts Program will include:

• Butterfly (France): As a man swims in the sea, memories come to the surface. The recollections are from his early childhood to his maturity all of which are linked to water.

• Forevergreen (USA): An orphaned bear cub finds a home with a fatherly evergreen tree, until his hunger for trash leads him to danger.

• The Girl Who Cried Pearls (Canada): A haunting fable about a girl overwhelmed by sorrow, the boy who loves her, and how greed leads good hearts to wicked deeds.

• Retirement Plan (Ireland): In the throes of his overstimulated, energy poor midlife, Ray fantasizes about everything he’d love to do in retirement, once he finally has the “time.”

• The Three Sisters (Israel/Cyprus/Russia): Three sisters living on an isolated island must rent out one of their houses.

The Oscar Animated Shorts Program will show: Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7 at 3:30 p.m.; Sunday and Tuesday, March 8 and 10 at 6:30 p.m.; and Monday, March 9 at 4:00 p.m.

Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona.
