The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Uproar” showing March 29-April 3 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.

In New Zealand, 1981, Josh Waaka is a 17-year-old square peg in the round, rugby-obsessed hole that is St Gilbert’s College. Meanwhile, the Springboks rugby team, representing Apartheid-era South Africa, are touring New Zealand, sparking nationwide protests and dividing the country.

Josh’s newfound passion for acting, as well as a greater awareness of his Māori heritage, sends him tumbling headlong into conflict where he is forced to either conform or stand up for himself, his whānau (family) and his future.

“Uproar” is the funny and heartwarming story of a young man’s battle to find his true voice, set against the volatile backdrop of New Zealand’s fight for its national identity.

“Uproar” stars Academy Award-nominee Minnie Driver, Julian Dennison, Rhys Darby, Erana James and James Rolleston.

“Uproar” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre March 29-April 3. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 29, 30 and 31 at 6:30 p.m.; and Monday and Wednesday, April 1 and 3 at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona.
